You are delegated the administrative authority, responsibility, and accountability necessary for carrying out your assigned duties. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Plan, develop, organize, evaluate, and direct the housekeeping departmentDevelop and maintain written housekeeping policies and proceduresReview the department's policies, procedure manuals, job descriptions, etcInterpret the department's policies and procedures to employees, residents, and visitorsCoordinate housekeeping services and activities with other related departmentsReview and develop a plan of correction for housekeeping deficiencies noted during survey inspectionsMeet with housekeeping personnel on a regularly scheduled basis, and solicit advice for inter-department concernsSchedule and announce departmental meeting times, dates, place, etcAssist in the recruitment and selection of housekeeping personnelAssign a sufficient number of housekeeping personnel for each tour of dutyMonitor absenteeismSchedule department working hours, work assignments, cleaning schedules, etcReview and check competence of housekeeping personnel and make necessary adjustments/correctionsCounsel, discipline, or terminate if as necessaryConduct departmental performance evaluationsReview and develop a plan of correction for housekeeping deficiencies noted during survey inspections and provide a written copy for the AdministratorDevelop and participate in the planning, conducting, scheduling, of in-service training classes, on-the-job training, and orientation programsAssist in preparing and planning the housekeeping department's budgetDemonstrate a passion for caring as evidenced by interaction with co-workers, residents, families, and visitorsMust be able to relate information concerning a resident's conditionMust maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, the appearance of work areas, and perform regular inspections of food service areas for sanitation, order, safety, and proper performance of assigned dutiesPerform all other duties, as assignedSKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:Must be knowledgeable of housekeeping practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelinesMust maintain the care and use of supplies, equipment, etc., and maintain the appearance of housekeeping areasMust perform regular inspections of resident rooms/units for sanitation, order, safety, and proper performance of assigned dutiesEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:Must possess, as a minimum, a high school diploma or its equivalentMust have, as a minimum, three (3) years' experience in a supervisory capacity in a hospital or other related medical facility Training in environmental control policies and procedures preferred, but not requiredWORK ENVIRONMENT:Works in all areas of the facility Moves intermittently during working hours Is subject to frequent interruptions Is involved with residents, personnel, visitors, government agencies/personnel, etc., under all conditions and circumstances Is subject to hostile and emotionally upset residents, family members, etc Communicates with the medical staff, nursing staff, and other department supervisors Works beyond normal duty hours, on weekends, and in other positions temporarily, when necessaryIs subject to call back during emergency conditions (e.g., severe weather, evacuation, post-disaster, etc.)Attends and participates in continuing educational programs Is subject to injury from falls, burns from equipment, odors, etc., throughout the workday, as well as reactions from dust, disinfectants, tobacco smoke, and other air contaminants Is subject to exposure to infectious waste, diseases, conditions, etc., including TB and the AIDS and Hepatitis B virusesMay be subject to the handling of and exposure to hazardous chemicalsOTHER:Classification: non-exemptWe are an Equal Opportunity Employer, Gender/Minority/Veterans/Disabled.
