Director of Human Resources Hyatt Regency Milwaukee | Managed by Rebel Hotel Company Hyatt Regency Milwaukee is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and strategic Director of Human Resources to join our Executive Committee. Located in the heart of downtown Milwaukee, our 481-room, full-service hotel is home to a dedicated team committed to delivering exceptional hospitality experiences for our guests and associates alike. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced hospitality HR leader to shape the associate experience, develop future leaders, and serve as a trusted advisor to hotel leadership. The Director of Human Resources oversees all aspects of the Human Resources function, including talent acquisition, payroll administration, associate relations, labor relations, compliance, compensation and benefits, training and development, performance management, and organizational culture. This leader is responsible for ensuring compliance with employment laws, company policies, and collective bargaining agreements while fostering an engaging, high-performing workplace. Exempt associates are expected to work as much of each workday as necessary to fulfill the responsibilities of the position. Job Duties & Functions - Approach all encounters with guests and associates in an attentive, friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
- Maintain regular attendance in compliance with company standards and operational needs.
- Maintain high standards of personal appearance and comply with company dress code and brand standards.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and applicable certifications.
- Direct and supervise the Human Resources department.
- Serve as a strategic business partner to the General Manager and Executive Committee.
- Lead all aspects of recruitment, onboarding, orientation, retention, succession planning, and associate engagement.
- Oversee the hotel's payroll function, ensuring timely and accurate payroll processing while maintaining compliance with wage and hour laws, collective bargaining agreements, and company policies.
- Manage associate benefits, workers' compensation, unemployment claims, leave administration, and HRIS processes.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and ensure hotel compliance with EEO, ADA, FMLA, OSHA, immigration, wage and hour regulations, workers' compensation, unemployment, and other employment statutes.
- Participate in regulatory hearings and investigations as required.
- Communicate and implement new Human Resources policies, procedures, and company initiatives.
- Coach and develop department leaders on performance management, associate relations, coaching, counseling, and corrective action.
- Support positive labor relations and administer collective bargaining agreements while maintaining productive working relationships with union representatives.
- Develop, implement, and monitor training, leadership development, and associate recognition programs.
- Monitor turnover, staffing levels, labor trends, and other workforce metrics to identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Prepare and manage the Human Resources budget.
- Coordinate performance evaluation and wage administration processes.
- Maintain all personnel records, HR documentation, and required reporting.
- Lead associate engagement initiatives, including surveys, internal communications, recognition programs, and employee events.
- Participate in safety initiatives and ensure compliance with Loss Prevention SOPs.
- Develop managers and supervisors for future advancement through coaching and leadership development.
- Attend meetings, training sessions, and perform other duties as assigned.
