JOB SUMMARY: The Director of Human Resources is directly responsible for the overall administration, coordination, and evaluation of the human resource function that includes, but is not limited to, recruitment and onboarding processes, performance evaluations, policies and procedures, employee relations, training and development, and payroll and benefits.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide leadership in setting vision and goals for the HR department and for its ongoing operation.
- Lead and support the HR personnel and their respective functions.
- Annually review and make recommendations to executive management for improvement of the organization's policies, procedures, and practices on personnel matters.
- Lead and implement the EU staff and faculty training and development program for the organization in conjunction with the EU team to provide continual learning and personal and professional growth for employees.
- Directs the planning and overseeing of the employee benefit programs administration (group health, dental, life, long-term & short-term disability insurance, retirement plans, FMLA and workers compensation)
- Oversees the biweekly and monthly payroll processing to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
- Assists executive management in the annual review, preparation, and administration of the organization's wage and salary program.
- Maintains knowledge of industry trends and employment legislation and ensures organization's compliance.
- Maintains responsibility for organization compliance with federal, state, and local legislation pertaining to all personnel matters.
- Communicates changes in the organization's personnel policies and procedures and ensures that proper compliance is followed.
- Works directly with department managers to assist them in carrying out their responsibilities on personnel matters.
- Coordinates or conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
- Consults with legal counsel as appropriate, or as directed by the Vice President, on personnel matters.
- Prepares, analyzes, and monitors monthly general ledger reconciliation and annual department budget.
- Develops and maintains a human resource information system that meets the organization's personnel information needs.
- Participates on committees and special projects and seeks additional responsibilities.
QUALIFICATION CRITERIA:
Education: Bachelor's degree in HRM, Business Administration or related field required. Master's degree in HRM or Business Administration strongly preferred. Professional certification (SHRM-CP/SCP or PHR/SPHR) preferred.
Experience: A minimum of five years of HR experience required with supervisory experience. A familiarity with Federal and/or State employment laws and other related legislations is a must. Experience in employee benefits administration and working in a higher educational institution preferred. A familiarity with ADP Work Force Now system is a plus.

WORKING CONDITIONS: Quiet office environment with minimal to moderate noise and physical exertion. May involve day or overnight travel to meetings and conferences off campus on occasion.
