Our client is seeking an experienced and visionary Director of Immunology to lead the scientific strategy, research direction, and portfolio growth of a dynamic and innovative organization. As a key member of the leadership team, you will partner with executive stakeholders, commercial leaders, and scientific experts to identify new opportunities, advance innovative programs, and drive meaningful scientific and business outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Scientific Leadership & Strategy

• Develop and execute the organization"s immunology strategy, aligning scientific initiatives with business objectives and market opportunities.
• Lead the evaluation and development of scientific portfolio priorities, growth strategies, and innovation initiatives.
• Provide strategic scientific leadership across immunology-focused research programs and translational science efforts.
• Drive the identification and assessment of emerging scientific trends, technologies, and therapeutic opportunities.
• Present scientific recommendations, portfolio updates, and strategic insights to executive leadership.

Research & Innovation

• Design and oversee innovative research programs addressing critical questions in immunology, disease biology, and translational medicine.
• Lead the development of scientific hypotheses and experimental strategies that support discovery, product development, and commercialization efforts.
• Drive the generation, interpretation, and application of high-quality scientific data.
• Utilize AI-enabled and data-driven approaches to accelerate scientific discovery and decision-making.
• Maintain awareness of emerging scientific advancements and competitive developments within immunology and related fields.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner closely with commercial, operational, and research teams to ensure successful execution of strategic initiatives.
• Support product development and commercialization efforts through scientific expertise and thought leadership.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with academic institutions, key opinion leaders, industry experts, and strategic partners.
• Represent the organization at scientific conferences, industry meetings, and external collaborations.

Team Leadership

• Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of scientists and scientific leaders.
• Foster a culture of innovation, scientific excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Support talent acquisition, succession planning, and professional development initiatives.
• Manage departmental budgets, resources, timelines, and priorities to ensure successful execution of research objectives.

Required Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Immunology, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, or a related life sciences discipline.
• 10+ years of scientific experience within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, academic, or related research environments.
• 8+ years of people leadership and team development experience.
• Deep expertise in immunology, translational research, disease biology, and biological assay interpretation.
• Demonstrated success developing scientific strategies and leading complex research initiatives.
• Experience leveraging artificial intelligence and advanced analytics to generate scientific insights.
• Proven ability to translate scientific discoveries into business and commercial opportunities.
• Exceptional communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience leading immunology-focused research organizations or therapeutic programs.
• Strong track record of portfolio strategy, scientific innovation, and organizational leadership.
• Experience supporting product development, commercialization, or business planning activities.
• Established publication record and scientific thought leadership.
• Experience collaborating with key opinion leaders, academic researchers, and external scientific advisors.

Job Type & Location

This is a Permanent position based out of Woburn, MA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $200000.00 - $250000.00/yr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
