Job Description:
The Director of IT leads Evergreen’s technology function, including infrastructure, systems, data, AI, security, and IT governance. This role is responsible for setting IT direction and ensuring Evergreen’s technology environment is secure, reliable, scalable, and able to support business priorities and growth.
The Director of IT works closely with business leaders to guide priorities, support decision-making, and balance tradeoffs across speed, cost, and risk. This role also leads the IT team, including service delivery through the Manager of IT, and requires prior experience leading enterprise IT strategy, operations, and cross-functional technology initiatives.

SALARY
$140,000+, depending on experience, in addition to bonus eligibility and a comprehensive benefits package.
WHAT YOU’LL OWN
- IT operations, infrastructure & change management — ensure reliable, secure, and scalable technology operations while balancing system stability with delivery of enhancements and changes
- Enterprise architecture, systems & data strategy — define standards for systems, integrations, and data governance to support scalable, maintainable solutions
- Business-aligned IT roadmap & prioritization — translate business needs into IT priorities and sequence work based on impact, urgency, and risk
- Vendor strategy & technology spend — own vendor selection, contracts, performance, and cost optimization to maximize business value
- Cybersecurity, risk & compliance — define and oversee Evergreen’s security posture, governance practices, and risk management approach
- Leadership & people management — lead, coach, and develop the team while driving alignment, accountability, and a values-based team culture
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Leadership & People Management
- Set clear direction and ensure alignment on goals and priorities.
- Maintain alignment through consistent communication and obstacle removal.
- Establish expectations and drive accountability for performance and results.
- Foster a culture of care through trust, empathy, recognition, and support.
- Coach and develop team members through goal-setting and actionable feedback.
- Manage team capacity and reinforce alignment with Evergreen’s values.
IT Operations, Infrastructure & Change Management
- Define and oversee the IT operating model, ensuring systems are reliable, secure, and scalable
- Balance system stability with delivery of enhancements and new capabilities
- Monitor performance and ensure risks are identified, escalated, and resolved
Enterprise Architecture, Systems & Data Strategy
- Establish architecture principles for system selection, integration, and data governance
- Ensure systems are scalable, maintainable, and aligned to long-term business needs
- Lead system lifecycle decisions, including modernization, consolidation, and retirement
Business-aligned IT Roadmap & Prioritization
- Translate business priorities into a clear IT roadmap and delivery plan
- Evaluate tradeoffs across speed, cost, and risk with business leaders
- Prioritize initiatives based on impact, feasibility, and operational readiness
Vendor Strategy & Technology Spend
- Define vendor strategy, including build vs. buy decisions and partner selection
- Negotiate and manage contracts to ensure performance, accountability, and value
- Optimize technology spend while maintaining service quality and scalability
Cybersecurity, Risk & Compliance
- Define and oversee cybersecurity strategy, risk posture, and incident readiness
- Ensure governance, policies, and controls meet security and compliance requirements
- Partner with internal and external stakeholders to identify and mitigate risks
WHAT YOU’LL NEED
Required Qualifications
- 8+ years of progressive IT leadership, enterprise technology, or digital operations experience
- Experience leading, developing, and scaling high-performing teams
- Proven experience leading IT functions across infrastructure, systems, vendors, and security
- Experience defining and executing IT strategy and roadmaps aligned to business priorities
- Strong ability to balance tradeoffs across cost, risk, speed, and scalability
- Experience managing vendors, contracts, and technology spend
- Working knowledge of cybersecurity, compliance, and risk management frameworks
- Strong communication and stakeholder alignment skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with enterprise architecture, data governance, and scaling technology environments
- Experience with Microsoft ecosystem (M365, Azure, identity & access management)
- Experience with AI, automation, and digital technologies that improve business performance
