Job Title: Director of Labor & Delivery

Compensation:

Position Overview:

We are seeking an experienced Director of Labor & Delivery to provide strategic and operational leadership for a Labor, Delivery, Recovery, and Postpartum (LDRP) department within a healthcare setting. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, compassionate, and high-quality maternal and newborn care through oversight of clinical operations, staff development, quality initiatives, regulatory compliance, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The ideal candidate will possess extensive Labor & Delivery experience, strong leadership capabilities, and a commitment to patient-centered care and operational excellence.


Responsibilities:

Clinical & Operational Leadership:

  • Provide leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for the Labor & Delivery department
  • Ensure safe, high-quality patient care and operational efficiency
  • Oversee staffing, scheduling, workflow coordination, and resource management
  • Support continuous improvement of departmental operations and patient care processes
  • Promote a culture of patient safety, accountability, and service excellence

Staff Leadership & Development:

  • Recruit, mentor, and develop nursing and clinical staff
  • Foster a collaborative, supportive, and team-oriented work environment
  • Support staff engagement, professional growth, and leadership development initiatives
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide coaching and guidance to team members

Quality & Regulatory Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Lead quality improvement and patient safety initiatives focused on:
    • Maternal and newborn outcomes
    • Patient satisfaction
    • Clinical safety and quality metrics
  • Monitor departmental performance indicators and operational goals
  • Maintain readiness for regulatory and accreditation surveys

Interdisciplinary Collaboration:

  • Collaborate closely with physicians, midwives, neonatal teams, and hospital leadership
  • Support coordinated maternal and newborn care initiatives across departments
  • Participate in interdisciplinary committees, planning meetings, and leadership initiatives

Financial & Resource Management:

  • Manage departmental budgets, staffing models, and operational resources
  • Monitor productivity, resource utilization, and financial performance
  • Ensure appropriate allocation of personnel, supplies, and clinical resources

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Master’s Degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field required

Licensure & Certifications:

  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in Colorado required or ability to obtain Colorado licensure
  • Current BLS Certification required
  • Current ACLS Certification required
  • Current NRP Certification required
  • Additional maternal or neonatal certifications preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years of Labor & Delivery clinical experience required
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive healthcare leadership or management experience required
  • Strong knowledge of maternal/newborn clinical operations, patient safety standards, and healthcare regulations preferred
