Build the Organization. Develop the Leaders. Own the Results.
We are seeking an executive-level logistics leader to build, develop, and scale a high-performing logistics organization supporting a fast-growing manufacturing business.
This is not simply a transportation or shipping leadership role.
This leader will be responsible for building an organization that consistently delivers results through strong managers, disciplined systems, operational planning, financial accountability, and continuous improvement.
The successful candidate has already led managers responsible for large logistics or operations organizations, built sustainable operating systems that continue to perform without constant executive involvement, and successfully scaled organizations through periods of significant growth.
You will report directly to the Vice President of Logistics and lead multiple warehouse, shipping, transportation, and logistics teams across several locations.
What You'll Own
Executive Leadership
- Lead multiple managers responsible for warehouse, shipping, transportation, and logistics operations.
- Build a culture of ownership, accountability, coaching, and operational excellence.
- Develop leaders who solve problems independently rather than relying on executive escalation.
- Recruit, coach, develop, and when necessary, make difficult performance decisions to strengthen the organization.
- Build succession plans that create leadership depth throughout the department.
Operational Excellence
- Own end-to-end logistics performance across inbound, outbound, warehouse, transportation, transfers, and emergency shipments.
- Ensure consistent execution across all facilities while improving customer service, productivity, safety, and cost performance.
- Balance transportation strategy, warehouse capacity, labor utilization, routing, service levels, and operational priorities.
- Partner closely with Manufacturing, Purchasing, Customer Service, Sales, and Operations to maintain uninterrupted product flow.
Financial Ownership
- Own departmental operating budgets and logistics P&L.
- Continuously improve transportation costs, warehouse productivity, labor efficiency, inventory movement, carrier performance, and overall cost-to-serve.
- Evaluate capital investments, transportation strategies, and operational initiatives based on measurable business impact.
Organizational Growth & Scalability
- Build systems, operating rhythms, and accountability structures that continue performing independent of any one individual.
- Redesign organizational structures, staffing models, workflows, and operational processes to support continued company growth.
- Develop long-term capacity plans that anticipate future business demands instead of reacting to operational challenges.
KPI & Performance Management
- Develop meaningful KPIs that drive operational behavior rather than simply reporting historical performance.
- Establish daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual operating reviews with clear ownership and follow-up.
- Use data to coach leaders, improve execution, eliminate waste, and drive measurable business improvements.
- Identify root causes of operational issues and implement permanent corrective actions that prevent recurrence.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first 12 months:
- Managers operate independently with clear ownership and accountability.
- On-time shipping and customer delivery performance consistently improves.
- Transportation, warehouse, and labor costs trend downward while maintaining service levels.
- KPI dashboards drive coaching, operational decisions, and measurable business improvements.
- Staffing plans proactively support business growth and seasonal demand.
- Operational problems are solved permanently through sustainable systems rather than daily executive intervention.
- Cross-functional partnerships improve forecasting, planning, communication, and execution.
- Leadership bench strength increases through coaching, development, and succession planning.
Qualifications
Required Experience
- 10+ years of progressive leadership within logistics, warehousing, transportation, manufacturing, distribution, or supply chain operations.
- Proven experience leading managers who themselves lead large frontline organizations.
- Demonstrated ownership of departmental operating budgets and/or P&L.
- Experience leading multi-site operations.
- Proven success scaling organizations during periods of growth.
- Track record of building systems, processes, and operating rhythms that continue delivering results after implementation.
- Experience establishing KPIs that improve operational performance and accountability.
- Strong background developing leaders, coaching managers, and making difficult personnel decisions when necessary.
- Strong analytical, financial, and operational decision-making skills.
Preferred Experience
- High-volume manufacturing or distribution environment.
- Warehouse Management Systems (WMS).
- Transportation Management Systems (TMS).
- ERP systems.
- Continuous Improvement, Lean, Six Sigma, or Operational Excellence methodologies.
- Experience overseeing international and domestic logistics is beneficial but not required.
Leadership Profile
The ideal candidate has already demonstrated the ability to:
- Lead through managers rather than personally solving every operational issue.
- Build organizations that continue performing without constant executive involvement.
- Scale people, processes, and systems during periods of rapid business growth.
- Balance strategic planning with hands-on operational leadership.
- Make difficult decisions while building trust, accountability, and high-performing teams.
- Think 12–18 months ahead while consistently executing today's operational priorities.
- Operate with an ownership mentality, taking full responsibility for results rather than individual functions.
Why Join Us
This is an opportunity to build something meaningful.
You'll join a growing organization that values ownership, decisive leadership, continuous improvement, and long-term thinking. You'll have the autonomy to strengthen the logistics organization, develop future leaders, improve operational performance, and leave a lasting impact on the business.
