    Job Description

    Specific Role:

The Director of Manufacturing is responsible for leading manufacturing production and safety across EMIT Technologies operations, translating business demand and production plans into consistent execution while ensuring products are manufactured safely, efficiently, profitably, and on time. This role provides leadership and accountability for production performance while developing the systems, people, and operating discipline required to support EMIT’s continued aggressive growth. The Director of Manufacturing operates at both the strategic and tactical level, using operational and financial data, KPIs, and direct floor engagement to drive safety, quality, on-time delivery, financial performance, and team engagement.

    Key Accountabilities:

    Production Execution & On-Time Delivery

    • Own manufacturing execution against the production schedule with a relentless focus on achieving 100% on-time delivery.
    • Ensure production priorities, labor, equipment, and capacity are aligned with customer commitments and business requirements.
    • Establish clear expectations and accountability for daily and weekly production performance.
    • Identify schedule risks early and drive corrective action before customer commitments are impacted.
    • Partner closely with Supply Chain to ensure material availability supports the production plan.
    • Work cross-functionally to remove constraints related to materials, engineering, quality, equipment, labor, or other operational issues.

    Operational & Financial Performance

    • Own the financial performance of manufacturing operations, including labor efficiency, productivity, overtime, scrap, rework, and other controllable production costs.
    • Understand the relationship between operational decisions and gross margin, working capital, and overall company financial performance.
    • Establish and manage meaningful operational KPIs and use data to identify trends, diagnose problems, and drive action.
    • Develop operating plans and resource strategies that support both current demand and future growth.
    • Partner with Finance and operational leadership to understand variances to plan and implement corrective actions.
    • Drive increased throughput and capacity utilization while maintaining appropriate cost, quality, and safety standards.

    Leadership & Accountability

    • Lead, coach, and develop direct and indirect reports within the production organizational structure while establishing clear ownership and performance expectations.
    • Build a culture of accountability where commitments are clear, performance is visible, and problems are addressed directly.
    • Ensure production leaders have the tools, information, and expectations necessary to effectively manage their teams.
    • Develop leadership capability and succession depth throughout manufacturing operations.
    • Maintain a strong floor presence and firsthand understanding of production performance, constraints, and employee needs.
    • Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, from frontline employees to executive leadership.

    ERP & Data Discipline

    • Champion disciplined use of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations (D365 F&O) as the system of record for manufacturing operations.
    • Ensure production transactions, labor reporting, material consumption, production orders, and related operational data are timely and accurate.
    • Use ERP data and operational dashboards to evaluate performance, identify constraints, and make informed decisions.
    • Hold teams accountable for system and process discipline and eliminate reliance on unnecessary offline or shadow systems.
    • Partner cross-functionally to improve data quality and operational visibility.

    Continuous Improvement & Scalability

    • Partner closely with the Operational Excellence Manager to identify and execute improvements in throughput, productivity, flow, labor utilization, and manufacturing processes.
    • Establish repeatable operating rhythms, standard work, and management systems that create predictable execution.
    • Use root-cause analysis and structured problem solving to address recurring operational issues.
    • Identify capacity constraints and develop plans related to labor, equipment, layout, automation, and process improvements.
    • Build scalable manufacturing processes capable of supporting significant business growth without sacrificing safety, quality, delivery, financial performance, or team engagement.

    Cross-Functional Operations

    • Partner with the Director of Supply Chain to align procurement, inventory, material availability, and production requirements.
    • Partner with Engineering and Quality to resolve design, manufacturability, and quality issues affecting production.
    • Maintain visibility into customer priorities and ensure production decisions support business commitments.
    • Escalate risks quickly and communicate clearly regarding operational performance, constraints, and recovery plans.
    • Participate as a key member of the Manufacturing Operations leadership team and contribute to broader operational strategy.

    Safety:

    • Provide executive-level ownership and oversight of EMIT’s manufacturing safety program in partnership with the Safety Coordinator.
    • Ensure safety expectations are embedded into daily operations rather than treated as a separate initiative.
    • Maintain accountability for regulatory compliance, training, incident investigation, and corrective actions.
    • Use leading and lagging safety indicators to identify risk and continuously improve safety performance.
    • Foster an environment where employees and leaders actively identify, communicate, and resolve safety concerns.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Manufacturing, Engineering, Business, or a related field preferred.
    • 8+ years of progressive manufacturing or operations leadership experience, including leadership of production teams and managers.
    • Demonstrated success improving production execution, schedule adherence, and on-time delivery.
    • Strong understanding of manufacturing financials, labor productivity, cost management, and operational performance.
    • Experience operating within a modern ERP/MRP environment; Microsoft Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations experience strongly preferred.
    • Demonstrated ability to use operational data and KPIs to identify problems, establish priorities, and drive results.
    • Experience leading in a fast-paced, high-growth, or rapidly changing manufacturing environment strongly preferred.
    • Working knowledge of manufacturing safety requirements and OSHA standards.
    • Experience with Lean manufacturing, continuous improvement, and structured problem-solving methodologies preferred.
