Position Summary: Director of Marketing Operations (hybrid)

Key Responsibilities: 1. Strategic Leadership and Department Planning

a. Partners with the Chief Marketing Officer to identify, prioritize, and execute high-impact

opportunities across the Marketing organization.

b. Supports strategic planning and development of short- and long-term departmental goals,

priorities, and performance measures.

c. Drives and supports cross-functional strategic initiatives that advance department goals

and business outcomes.

d. Recommends and implements new systems, processes, and operating models that

strengthen efficiency, scalability, and organizational effectiveness.

  1. Financial Planning and Resource Management

a. Leads preparation, administration, and oversight of the Marketing Department's annual

operating and capital budgets.

b. Reviews, evaluates, and consolidates budgets submitted by senior leaders and managers,

ensuring alignment with organizational goals and financial guidelines.

c. Develops and maintains systems and procedures for recording, monitoring, and evaluating

financial performance and activity.

d. Authorizes designated expenses, tracks budget performance, and investigates and

resolves variances.

e. Analyzes financial activity, identifies trends and patterns, and develops recommendations

to support departmental goals and resource optimization.

f. Advises the CMO and department leadership on financial and administrative matters and

prepares reports, forecasts, and special analyses as needed.

  1. Operations and Workflow Management

a. Oversees day-to-day operational functions of the Marketing Department to ensure

efficient, coordinated execution of work.

b. Establishes and improves department-wide processes, policies, and workflows that

support productivity, accountability, and service delivery.

c. Oversees workflow and intake management, including leadership of the Marketing Traffic

function to support timely execution of Marketing, Content, and Web projects.

d. Manages departmental office operations, including workspace planning, equipment

acquisition, and coordination of staff events and retreats.

e. Ensures operational practices evolve to support a high-performing, integrated, and datadriven

marketing organization.

  1. People Operations and Organizational Effectiveness

a. Oversees administration of human resource policies, procedures, and programs within the

Marketing Department, ensuring compliance with organizational standards.

b. Advises department managers on interpretation and application of personnel policies and

procedures.

c. Reviews and authorizes employee status changes, including hours, salary actions, and

related administrative updates, as appropriate.

d. Leads onboarding and offboarding processes for department staff.

e. Reviews and helps evolve organizational structure, role design, and team processes to

support growth, collaboration, and changing business needs.

f. Supports professional development, team engagement, and a positive office culture that

promotes teamwork and collaboration.

  1. Team Leadership

a. Provides leadership, coaching, and mentorship to staff across the Marketing Department

through a collaborative and supportive management approach.

b. Oversees assigned staff and administrative support personnel, including hiring, training,

supervision, performance management, and workflow delegation.

c. Monitors staffing needs, workload distribution, and operational coverage to ensure

departmental priorities are met.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Bachelor's Degree required. Business administration, health care administration

or a closely related field.

Experience: 10 years experience required

The posted pay range is Boston Children's reasonable and good-faith expectation for this pay at the time of posting.

Any base pay offer provided depends on skills, experience, education, certifications, and a variety of other job-related factors.
