Director of Marketplace Operations & Growth

A growing e-commerce organization is seeking an experienced Director of Marketplace Operations & Growth to lead its marketplace operations across multiple brands and channels. This is a high level leadership role overseeing the technical, business, and operational teams responsible for marketplace performance.

The Director will own the overall marketplace strategy, including revenue and net profit goals, marketplace expansion, operational performance, advertising strategy, catalog growth, and private brand development. This individual will manage managers and their teams, establish clear KPIs and SLAs, and ensure accountability across all marketplace functions.

The ideal candidate combines strong business and growth instincts with operational and technical knowledge. This person should be comfortable using data to make major investment decisions while also understanding marketplace integrations, feeds, and technical issues well enough to identify problems and work effectively with technical teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead marketplace strategy and operations across multiple brands and sales channels

• Set and execute annual revenue and net profit budgets across marketplaces

• Identify opportunities to increase marketplace sales, profitability, and SKU growth

• Evaluate and lead expansion into new marketplaces and categories

• Manage marketplace leadership teams across technical operations, sales, advertising, and data operations

• Establish KPIs, SLAs, and performance goals and hold teams accountable

• Identify and resolve operational and technical bottlenecks impacting growth

• Oversee marketplace relationships, negotiations, account health, and compliance

• Provide strategic oversight of marketplace integrations, feeds, and channel management systems

• Oversee advertising strategy and measure performance and ROI

• Drive kitting, merchandising, and other initiatives to increase margins and sell through

• Develop and execute strategies to grow private brand products and categories

• Use marketplace and category data to identify new product and growth opportunities

• Partner with merchandising, customer service, and IT teams to support marketplace growth

• Ensure marketplace operations and technical infrastructure can scale with increased SKU volume and new channels

Qualifications:

• Proven senior leadership experience within e-commerce, marketplace operations, or retail required

• Experience managing managers and cross functional teams

• Strong background in both marketplace operations and sales or growth

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to make data driven business and investment decisions

• Marketplace experience with Amazon Seller, Walmart Marketplace, eBay, or similar platforms strongly preferred

• Understanding of marketplace integrations, APIs, product feeds, and channel management systems

• Experience setting KPIs and SLAs and driving team accountability

• Strong understanding of revenue, margins, advertising performance, and marketplace profitability

• Proven ability to identify and execute new growth opportunities

• Excellent leadership, communication, and problem solving skills

• Ability to diagnose operational and technical issues and drive them through resolution

Type: Full time

Salary: $180,000 to $210,000/year
