Director of Nursing (DON) – Skilled Nursing / Long-Term Care
Location: Miller, South Dakota
Compensation: $40.00 – $62.00/hour (based on experience)
Sign-On Bonus: Up to $25,000
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Director of Nursing (DON) to lead clinical operations at a 50-bed skilled nursing and long-term care facility in Miller, SD. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing a team of 25+ nursing professionals while ensuring the highest standards of resident care, regulatory compliance, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic and operational leadership for the nursing department
- Ensure continuous survey readiness and compliance with state and federal regulations
- Oversee resident assessments, individualized care plans, and clinical outcomes
- Lead staffing, scheduling, recruitment, and performance management
- Manage departmental budget and resource allocation
- Drive quality assurance and performance improvement (QAPI) initiatives
- Oversee EMR utilization, documentation accuracy, and reporting
- Collaborate with physicians, interdisciplinary teams, residents, and families
- Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and resident-centered care
Qualifications
- Active, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Minimum 5 years of RN experience
- Prior experience as a Director of Nursing in long-term care/skilled nursing required
- BLS/CPR certification
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
Preferred Experience
- Proven success with state/federal survey processes and Plans of Correction (POC)
- Strong leadership, team development, and communication skills
- In-depth knowledge of LTC regulations and compliance standards
