Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Director of Nursing - Emergency Services to provide strategic, clinical, and operational leadership for a busy Emergency Department and Patient Care Services division. This leadership role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective patient care while maintaining compliance with healthcare regulations, accreditation standards, and emergency preparedness requirements.
The ideal candidate will be a strong nursing leader with emergency department experience, proven management skills, and a passion for driving quality outcomes and patient satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities Clinical & Operational Leadership
- Direct and oversee the clinical and administrative functions of Emergency Services.
- Ensure patient care is delivered in accordance with hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and professional nursing standards.
- Develop and implement patient care programs, policies, and procedures.
- Lead departmental quality improvement and patient safety initiatives.
- Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and clinical excellence.
Emergency Management
- Oversee the organization's emergency preparedness and disaster readiness programs.
- Ensure compliance with emergency management regulations and standards.
- Maintain ongoing readiness for emergency and disaster response situations.
- Coordinate emergency planning, training, and response activities.
Staff Leadership & Development
- Recruit, mentor, develop, and retain high-performing nursing teams.
- Provide coaching and leadership to department managers and clinical staff.
- Conduct performance evaluations and support ongoing professional development.
- Foster a positive and professional work environment.
Strategic Planning & Growth
- Develop strategies to improve patient satisfaction and department performance.
- Support service line growth initiatives and operational efficiencies.
- Monitor staffing, resource utilization, and budget performance.
- Promote excellence in patient-centered care delivery.
Required Qualifications Education
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Advanced healthcare-related degree preferred.
Experience
- Minimum 2 years of healthcare management experience required.
- Minimum 2 years of Emergency Room (ER) experience required.
- Previous leadership experience within an acute care hospital setting required.
Licensure
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) License.
Required Certifications
- BLS (American Heart Association)
- ACLS (American Heart Association)
- PALS (American Heart Association)
Additional Certifications
- CPI required within 30 days of hire.
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) required within 60 days of hire.
- TNCC required within 180 days of hire.
