Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Director of Nursing - Emergency Services to provide strategic, operational, financial, and clinical leadership for a busy Emergency Department. This leadership role carries 24-hour accountability for departmental operations, quality outcomes, staff development, patient satisfaction, and organizational performance.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Emergency Department nursing leadership, operational improvement, and driving positive patient care outcomes in a fast-paced hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide 24-hour leadership and oversight of Emergency Services operations.
- Direct and coordinate clinical, operational, and financial activities within the department.
- Lead nursing staff recruitment, retention, mentoring, and professional development.
- Monitor and improve patient satisfaction, quality metrics, and employee engagement.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory, accreditation, and patient safety standards.
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with physicians and interdisciplinary teams.
- Lead change management initiatives and process improvement projects.
- Manage departmental budgets, staffing plans, and resource allocation.
- Support patient flow optimization and operational efficiency initiatives.
- Oversee department growth, expansion planning, and implementation activities.
- Foster a culture of excellence, accountability, and patient-centered care.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license or eligibility for state licensure.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of progressive healthcare leadership experience.
- Previous Emergency Department leadership experience required.
- Strong operational, financial, and team leadership skills.
- Experience managing quality improvement and patient satisfaction initiatives.
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's Degree in Nursing or related field.
- Certification in Nursing Leadership or Emergency Nursing specialty.
- Experience with hospital growth, expansion, or service line development projects.
- Proven success leading teams in busy community hospital emergency departments.
- Background in change management and operational improvement initiatives.
