Director of Nursing

Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and results-oriented Director of Nursing to provide strategic clinical leadership for a skilled nursing and rehabilitation center. This executive nursing leader is responsible for ensuring the delivery of exceptional resident care while fostering a culture of clinical excellence, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement. The Director of Nursing serves as a key member of the facility leadership team and partners closely with the Executive Director to achieve outstanding clinical outcomes, regulatory compliance, employee engagement, and resident satisfaction.

Position Summary Brief

The Director of Nursing is responsible for the overall leadership and management of nursing services. This leader oversees clinical operations, nursing staff, quality improvement, regulatory compliance, workforce development, and resident care initiatives while ensuring the highest standards of clinical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Manage the overall operations of the Nursing Department in accordance with Company policies, standards of nursing practices, and governmental regulations so as to maintain excellent care of all residents’ needs.

Plan, develop, organize, implement, evaluate, and direct the nursing services department, as well as its programs and activities, in accordance with current rules, regulations, and guidelines that govern the long-term care facility.

Assist with the development of and approve the final version of the Interdisciplinary Plan of Care for each resident in coordination with the physician, Medical Director, nursing staff, and outside consultants (i.e., nursing, dietary, pharmacy, therapists, etc.) and in accordance with corporate, state, and federal guidelines.

Confirm accurate completion of forms/reports for the admission, transfer, and/or discharge of each resident.

Qualifications

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; BSN or MSN preferred.
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact RN License in the applicable state.
  • Minimum of five years of nursing experience, including at least three years in a nursing leadership or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of long-term care regulations and standards.
  • Exceptional leadership, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Experience leading clinical quality improvement initiatives and survey readiness.

Demonstrated success developing and retaining high-performing nursing teams
