The Archer Administration Director of Nursing provides leadership and has 24 hour responsibility and accountability for the successful operation of a designated unit/department/service. They participate as a member of the hospital's management team in planning, policy formulation and administrative decision making with particular reference to the role, functions and operation of the unit/department/service. Finally, they are a steward of the hospital's mission and service excellence program.
SUPERVISION: Reports directly to the Director of Psychiatric Services
RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Develops, implements and enforces policies and procedures which support the Hospital's mission, goals and objectives.
Ensures that staff complies with mandatory education, licensure requirements, mandatory health requirements, etc.
Develops annual departmental budget and operates within budgetary guidelines.
Recommends and ensures appropriate staffing levels. Allocates resources according to priorities.
Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner.
Gathers and analyzes information skillfully.
Develops alternative solutions.
Generates creative solutions and attention to detail.
Demonstrates persistence and follow through even when faced with adversity or challenges.

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
MSN preferred; BSN accepted.
5 years of psychiatric nurse experience.
Current RN licensure in the State of Louisiana or compact state license; current CPR, ACLS, PALS as required by policy
Computer skills.
Ability to read, write and speak intelligible English; Ability to communicate with patients, family, peers and medical personnel; Basic math skills.
Requires emotional stability and resilience; Must be adaptable to change, be decisive, and demonstrates foresight; Exhibits organizational and leadership ability.
Physical Demands/Work Environment
Work may require evenings, nights, weekends, holidays and/or a flexible schedule depending on the needs of the unit/department/service.
Requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to deal with stressful situations and conflict resolution.
Must have normal hearing or utilize adaptive devices to listen with a stethoscope to discern breath sounds, heart sounds, bowel sounds.
