Director of Operations (ABA)

The Director of Operations oversees the daily functioning, efficiency, and growth of an ABA organization. This role ensures that clinical, administrative, and billing teams work in alignment, that systems run smoothly, and that the organization delivers high‑quality, compliant ABA services. The position requires deep knowledge of ABA operations, payer requirements, and multi‑team coordination.


Responsibilities:


  • Oversee daily operations across clinical, scheduling, intake, billing, and administrative departments.
  • Ensure compliance with ABA industry standards, payer rules, documentation requirements, and state regulations.
  • Develop and refine workflows that improve efficiency, reduce errors, and support scalable growth.
  • Monitor key operational metrics such as staff productivity, client onboarding timelines, authorization status, and service delivery accuracy.
  • Partner with Clinical Directors to ensure service quality, caseload balance, and proper staff allocation.
  • Support revenue cycle processes by coordinating with billing and authorization teams to prevent service gaps and reduce denials.
  • Lead hiring, onboarding, and performance management for operational staff.
  • Implement systems, software, and processes that improve communication and operational consistency.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for escalated operational issues and problem‑solving.
  • Contribute to strategic planning, expansion initiatives, and organizational improvements.


Qualifications:


  • 3–5+ years of operations leadership in ABA, behavioral health, or healthcare.
  • Strong understanding of ABA service delivery, CPT codes, authorizations, and payer requirements.
  • Experience managing multi‑department teams and cross‑functional workflows.
  • Proficiency with ABA practice management platforms (CentralReach, Rethink, AccuPoint, etc.).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast‑paced environment.
