Director of Depot Operations - Remote

Remote – U.S. | Travel: Approximately 50–70%Veterans highly encouraged to apply, but Veteran Status not required.

The Opportunity

A growing national organization seeks a Director of Depot Operations to lead and optimize its U.S. network of pallet depots and warehouses. This role will develop Depot Managers, improve operational performance, and establish consistent standards across facilities.

A key priority is creating a scalable “Depot Blueprint”—a repeatable model for designing, staffing, equipping, launching, and managing new locations.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead multi-site operations, driving productivity, safety, quality, service, inventory accuracy, and cost control.

• Manage, coach, and develop Depot Managers while establishing clear performance expectations.

• Oversee pallet receiving, sorting, washing, inspection, repair, inventory, fulfillment, and shipping.

• Align staffing, equipment, capacity, and inventory with customer demand; resolve bottlenecks and coordinate transfers between facilities.

• Standardize operating procedures, training, inventory controls, and management practices.

• Establish KPIs, conduct facility reviews, and report on operational and budget performance.

• Improve labor efficiency, throughput, equipment utilization, and cost per pallet.

• Build the Depot Blueprint, covering facility layouts, workflows, staffing, equipment, technology, safety, and startup requirements.

• Partner with manufacturing, sales, purchasing, and fulfillment teams to improve execution.

Qualifications

• Significant leadership experience in warehouse, depot, distribution, manufacturing, or industrial operations.

• Proven success managing multiple facilities and developing site-level managers.

• Strong knowledge of inventory management, material flow, staffing, logistics, and fulfillment.

• Experience implementing SOPs, KPIs, and accountability systems.

• Demonstrated results improving productivity, quality, service, and operating costs.

• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills with a hands-on leadership approach.

• Ability to travel approximately 50–70% throughout the United States.

Preferred Experience

• Opening, integrating, relocating, or scaling facilities.

• Designing facility layouts, workflows, staffing models, or operating systems.

• Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or similar continuous improvement methods.

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Operations Management, Business, or a related field.* #IND33
