Company Overview:
Henke Industrial, LLC is a national industrial service provider specializing in the removal, relocation, and installation of heavy machinery and industrial assets. Our projects often involve coordinating complex moves of equipment sourced from a wide range of manufacturers, and delivering end-to-end execution that includes site preparation, equipment handling, and multi-state and international logistics.

Position Summary:
The Director of Operations will oversee the execution of field service projects, managing all aspects of labor, equipment, freight, safety, and schedule. This role requires a leader with broad technical fluency across mechanical and industrial equipment, familiarity of transportation logistics, and the ability to translate scopes of work (SOWs) into profitable, efficient, and safe operations. This position will also support project estimation efforts by evaluating labor, equipment, and freight costs and providing input during the quoting phase. Prospect must be highly dependable and adaptable to changes. While this is not a field position the director must be available to step in when needed remotely or in person.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Leadership

  • Oversee the planning, mobilization, and execution of machinery removal, relocation, and installation projects.
  • Coordinate all site activities, including labor deployment, subcontractor engagement, equipment rentals, and adherence to SOW deliverables.
  • Manage day-to-day operations and ensure timelines and budgets are maintained across multiple active job sites.
  • Supervise and train field supervisors, foremen, and field technicians to meet performance, quality, and safety standards.
  • Be able to communicate effectively with executive staff.

Technical Scope & Execution

  • Interpret complex SOWs, engineering drawings, and OEM documentation to guide project scope planning.
  • Ensure proper methods are used for rigging, anchoring, welding, and equipment placement according to job specs.
  • Anticipate operational issues related to equipment access, load-in/out restrictions, or utility conflicts.Freight & Logistics Management
  • Lead planning and scheduling of outbound machinery shipments across the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
  • Select appropriate truck types (e.g., flatbed, step deck, RGN) based on machine weight, height, and clearance.
  • Coordinate permitting, escorts, and customs documentation for cross-border freight.
  • Interface with freight brokers and in-house logistics staff to ensure competitive and compliant execution.
  • Cost Estimation & Project Input
  • Analyze SOWs to identify cost drivers and advise on labor hours, equipment needs, and freight strategy.
  • Collaborate with administrative and sales teams to develop job estimates and pricing models.
  • Provide historical data or operational input to refine quoting accuracy.
  • Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure all projects meet OSHA and DOT compliance standards, including those for lead exposure, confined space, and heavy equipment operation.
  • Review and enforce site-specific safety protocols in collaboration with the EHS team.
  • Maintain accurate records of safety audits, training certifications, and job hazard assessments.
  • Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1 year of operational management expected, 3+ years preferred.
  • Proven track record in project execution and team leadership within a field services or construction environment.
  • Familiar with freight logistics, DOT regulations, and international shipping requirements.
  • Working knowledge of rigging techniques, welding practices, and heavy equipment handling.
  • Experience reviewing scopes of work and contributing to job estimates and cost planning.
  • Ability to travel frequently to project sites across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico.
  • OSHA 30-hour certification preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products: Excel; Word and Power Point.
