Director of Operations | Heavy Civil / Site Development | North Atlanta, GA

Lead company-wide operations for an established heavy civil and site development contractor, with responsibility for project execution, field performance, staffing, equipment, operational systems, and profitability. This senior leadership role works directly with executive leadership to strengthen execution and support continued growth.

• Established heavy civil and site development contractor operating throughout Georgia.
• Core work includes grading, underground utilities, site development, infrastructure, and related civil construction.
• Strong backlog and experienced field and project leadership team.

What You’ll Do

• Lead company-wide construction and field operations.
• Work with executive leadership to execute operational priorities and growth initiatives.
• Maintain visibility across active projects, schedules, staffing, production, equipment, and operational risk.
• Partner with Project Managers, Superintendents, Foremen, and field leadership to improve project performance.
• Establish consistent standards for project planning, startup, execution, and closeout.
• Maintain a regular field presence and improve manpower allocation, productivity, and accountability.
• Plan workforce and leadership needs around backlog and growth, including recruiting and succession planning.
• Oversee equipment, fleet, trucking, and resource allocation.
• Identify operational bottlenecks and improve processes, communication, and efficiency.
• Monitor project performance, labor utilization, equipment costs, productivity, and profitability with Finance and construction leadership.
• Coach and develop operational leaders while reinforcing accountability across the organization.
• Partner with safety leadership on operational planning and risk management.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, and future growth initiatives.
• Build scalable systems and leadership structure to support continued expansion.

What We’re Looking For

• Significant leadership experience with a heavy civil, site development, grading, underground utility, infrastructure, or similar contractor.
• Strong understanding of field operations and heavy civil project execution.
• Proven experience leading Project Managers, Superintendents, field leaders, and cross-functional teams.
• Strong knowledge of construction financials, project performance, labor utilization, equipment costs, and operational metrics.
• Track record of improving processes, accountability, productivity, and organizational performance.
• Ability to lead effectively across both field and office environments.
• Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent industry experience considered.
