We're hiring a Director of People & Administration to own the HR and
administrative side of the business as we continue to grow.
The right person is a strong people and culture leader who is also an operationally minded administrator. Someone who genuinely cares about people development and finds satisfaction in the details that keep a business running.

What you'll own
HR and culture. Full employee lifecycle from offer through offboarding: recruiting,
onboarding, performance management, employee relations, benefits
administration, and the policies and handbook that hold it all together. You'll lead
the work of helping our people grow through clear expectations, real
accountability, and growth plans that make Black Hydrovac a place where every
employee thrives. You'll be a culture leader in a company where culture is our
most important strategic asset.

Compliance and administration. The administrative work that keeps the business legally and operationally sound. Tax filings, business registrations, insurance
management and renewals, workers' comp, DOT and fleet compliance, and our
portfolio of certifications (Sam.gov, MWAA LSBE, WBENC/WOSB/EDWOSB, MBE,VA Contracting). Plus client-facing documentation: pre-qualifications, credit
applications, and certificates of insurance that support operations on every
project.

What we're looking for
  • 5+ years in HR, people operations, or business management at a small or midsized company
  • Real HR scope in your background: handbook ownership, employee relations,performance management, recruiting
  • Track record of developing people: training plans, growth plans, performance frameworks
  • A creative, aggressive benefits manager who finds the best healthcare options at the right cost and helps employees get the most from their plans
  • Track record of owning a compliance or regulatory calendar and never letting things slip
  • A culture leader who lives by your values and helps others grow into theirs
  • Service business experience preferred. Construction, field services, skilledtrades, logistics, facilities, or utilities is a plus
  • Comfortable in a real construction environment — we don't have corner offices
Compensation and logistics
Base $110-130K commensurate with experience. Profit share tied to business
performance. Full benefits package including health insurance, 401(k) with
company match, and paid time off. Hybrid schedule based out of our Chantilly, VA
headquarters.
