Director of Pre-College Programs

Overview

The Director of Pre-College Programs designs, implements, and evaluates non-credit pre-college summer programs for rising high school juniors and seniors. Collaborates with faculty and staff to develop academic course offerings and on- and off-campus social programming. Serves as the primary point of contact for all operational aspects of the programs, overseeing planning, coordination, and execution before and during each session. Develops scalable processes and systems to support program growth and increase future pre-college summer enrollment. Additionally, the Director serves as an active member of the Admissions counseling team, contributing to recruitment, outreach, and other admissions activities throughout the year.

Responsibilities & Qualifications

Directs the development of Macalester’s new Pre-College Programs

• Collaborates with institutional leaders and community members to develop new, compelling pre-college classes and other programmatic content encouraging rising high school juniors and seniors to attend Macalester’s pre-college programs over other options in a crowded, competitive market.

• Builds and manages all work streams, including participant recruitment (in collaboration with Admissions); inquiry and application management/selection (in collaboration with Admissions); curriculum development and program evaluation (in collaboration with Academic Affairs and Student Affairs); marketing and communications (in collaboration with Communications & Marketing); hiring, onboarding, and training of pre-college employees (faculty, staff, and students); coordination with external partners (e.g. transportation); budget management and facilities management (in collaboration with Administration and Finance); risk management and wrap-around services (in collaboration with Administration & Finance and Student Affairs); and directs all activities throughout programming, from move-in to move-out.

• Develops program evaluation plans assessing the effectiveness of marketing and recruitment, management of inquiry/applicant pools, and programmatic outcomes. Reports out to all constituents critical to the program’s development and success.

Supports the College as an engaged member of the Admissions Counseling team 

• Serves as an active member of the Admissions counseling team. Works directly with high school students, high school counselors, independent educational consultants, and other educators throughout the admissions cycle. Participates in first-year application evaluation and selection. Leads information sessions about the College and other general admissions-related topics. Participates in on- and off-campus recruitment and outreach events.

• Directs all aspects of the pre-existing Pre@Mac Program, a summer college immersion experience for high school students.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree

• Minimum 5 years of experience working with high school students required

• Experience working in a college or university setting desired

• Experience in Admissions desired

Compensation:

$76,894.00-$80,389.00 Annually
