Description

We are seeking a Director of Preconstruction to lead the estimating and preconstruction function for a well-established commercial construction firm in Canton, Massachusetts. This executive-level leader will oversee departmental strategy, mentor high-performing teams, and serve as a key partner to clients from concept through project turnover.

Description

  • Lead and manage the Estimating and Preconstruction Department, driving performance, process improvement, and strategic growth.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, and professional development for estimating and preconstruction team members.
  • Collaborate closely with executive leadership, operations, project management, and business development teams.
  • Serve as the primary preconstruction representative for clients, owners, consultants, and project stakeholders.
  • Oversee conceptual estimating, budgeting, value engineering, constructability reviews, and procurement planning.
  • Direct estimating efforts across negotiated, hard bid, and design-build project delivery methods.
  • Manage subcontractor solicitation, bid analysis, bid levelling, and buyout activities.
  • Develop and implement preconstruction strategies that support successful project execution and client satisfaction.
  • Guide projects from conceptual budgeting through handoff to operations teams.
  • Support business development initiatives and help strengthen long-term client relationships.

Profile

A successful Director of Preconstruction should have:

  • Multifamily construction project experience.
  • Experience working for a larger, process-driven construction organisation.
  • Familiarity with SmartBid, QuickBid, On-Screen Takeoff (OST), BuildingConnected, or similar estimating tools.
  • Experience overseeing complex developments valued up to $50M.
