A well-established general contractor is seeking a Director of Preconstruction to lead its estimating and preconstruction operations. This executive-level role will drive strategy, oversee a high-performing team, and partner closely with leadership on complex commercial projects.

Description
- Lead and manage the full Preconstruction & Estimating Department
- Develop conceptual budgets, detailed cost estimates, and pricing strategies
- Oversee bid processes, subcontractor leveling, and procurement plans
- Partner with executive leadership, operations, and business development teams
- Drive value engineering and constructability reviews across all projects
- Lead client relationships throughout the preconstruction lifecycle
- Mentor and develop estimating staff, establishing best practices and processes
- Support negotiated work and hard bid pursuits across diverse project types
Profile
- 10+ years of commercial construction experience
- 5+ years in a senior estimating or preconstruction leadership role
- Proven experience managing and developing high-performing teams
- Strong background in multifamily or large-scale commercial construction
- Experience with negotiated, design-build, and hard bid work
- Expertise in budgeting, procurement strategy, and preconstruction operations
- Proficiency in Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and estimating platforms (SmartBid, OST, BuildingConnected, etc.)
- Executive presence with strong client-facing and business development capabilities
