The Position
The successful candidate for Director of Public Works will bring a demonstrated record of executive leadership and broad municipal public works experience. Appointed by and reporting to the City Manager or their designee, the Director will be responsible for managing a staff of 73 in Administration, Engineering, and Maintenance (Streets Maintenance, Building Maintenance, Parks Maintenance, and Fleet Maintenance). The Director will provide strategic leadership for the City's Public Works Department and Capital Improvement Program, ensuring the effective planning, delivery and maintenance of critical public infrastructure and municipal assets. The successful candidate will possess a strong background in organizational leadership, project management, and fiscal stewardship, with the ability to oversee complex capital projects while balancing operational priorities and long-term infrastructure needs. Serving as a trusted advisor to the City Manager, the Director will provide thoughtful recommendations on policy matters, infrastructure investments, and long-range financial planning. Working collaboratively with the executive leadership team, the Director will identify opportunities to improve organizational performance through innovation, technology, process improvements, and industry best practices.
