A growing organization is seeking a strategic Director of Purchasing to lead procurement and supply chain operations. This role is responsible for overseeing purchasing, subcontracting, vendor management, capital expenditures, and related procurement functions while ensuring cost-effective sourcing, supplier performance, and operational efficiency.
Location: Phoenix, AZ
Pay: $146k-$188k/annually (+ 15-20% travel)
Schedule: Monday-Friday
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage all procurement and purchasing activities, including subcontracting, vendor management, and capital expenditure purchasing.
- Develop sourcing strategies, negotiate contracts, and maintain key supplier relationships.
- Drive process improvements to increase efficiency and team performance.
- Oversee supplier performance, risk management, dispute resolution, and supply chain issue mitigation.
- Monitor procurement KPIs and ensure timely fulfillment of purchasing requests.
- Partner with business leaders to support operational objectives and improve procurement processes.
- Prepare and present executive-level reports on procurement performance, risks, and cost impacts.
- Manage and develop purchasing managers, supervisors, and procurement staff.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Purchasing, or a related field.
- 10+ years of procurement or purchasing leadership experience.
- Strong leadership, negotiation, and supplier management skills.
- Knowledge of supply chain management, subcontract administration, and contract review.
- Proven success in process improvement, project management, and cross-functional collaboration.
- High ethical standards with strong communication and relationship-building abilities.
