Salary Range: $90,000$130,000 (flexible for highly qualified candidates)
Overview
An established oil and gas equipment manufacturer with over 30 years of industry presence is seeking an experienced Director of Quality to lead and oversee all quality assurance, quality control, and compliance operations across its manufacturing and service divisions.
This is a high-visibility leadership role responsible for driving strategic quality initiatives while remaining actively engaged in day-to-day execution on the production floor. The Director of Quality will serve as the senior authority on ASME Code compliance, API Monogram requirements, fabrication standards, and coating processes ensuring every product meets rigorous industry and customer expectations.
Leading a team that includes two Quality Supervisors and approximately 15 QC Inspectors, this individual will run the show for quality across the organization, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Leadership and Strategy
Develop, implement, and maintain the company-wide Quality Management System (QMS)
Establish measurable quality objectives aligned with corporate goals and customer requirements
Serve as the senior quality advisor to executive leadership
Drive a culture of first-time quality and accountability throughout the organization
Manufacturing and Process Quality
Oversee quality functions for fabrication, welding, coating, assembly, and final inspection operations
Ensure compliance with ASME Code, API Monogram requirements, and customer specifications
Partner with Operations, Engineering, and Production to proactively prevent defects
Maintain active presence on the manufacturing floor to support execution and compliance
Compliance, Audits, and Certifications
Act as primary contact for ASME, API, and customer audits
Lead internal audits and management reviews
Maintain all documentation, procedures, and records required for regulatory and customer compliance
Ensure ongoing audit readiness across facilities
Nonconformance and Continuous Improvement
Lead root cause analysis and corrective/preventive action (CAPA) initiatives
Track and analyze quality metrics, nonconformances, and customer feedback
Drive continuous improvement using data-driven decision making
Supplier and Vendor Quality
Establish supplier quality standards and evaluation processes
Address supplier nonconformances and collaborate on corrective actions
Team Leadership and Development
Lead, mentor, and develop Quality Supervisors and QC Inspectors
Provide coaching, training, and performance management
Promote cross-functional quality awareness across manufacturing, engineering, and operations teams
Required Skills and Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or Quality
8+ years of quality leadership experience within an oil and gas manufacturing or fabrication environment
Strong working knowledge of ASME Code and API Monogram requirements
Deep understanding of welding, fabrication, coating, and pressure vessel manufacturing processes
Proven experience leading external audits and managing QMS systems
Demonstrated success implementing corrective actions and systemic quality improvements
Strong leadership and cross-functional collaboration skills
Preferred Skills
ASQ certifications (CQA, CQE)
Six Sigma certification
ISO Lead Auditor certification
Experience with oilfield equipment, pressure vessels, tanks, or modular systems manufacturing
Experience overseeing quality operations across multiple facilities
