Director of Radiology

Location: Memphis, TN
Employment Type: Direct Hire | Full-Time
Compensation: $110,000–$155,000 annually
Relocation Assistance: Available for qualified candidates based on relocation distance

Position Overview

Wheeler Staffing Partners is seeking an experienced Director of Radiology to lead the daily operations of a hospital Imaging Department in Memphis, TN. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing departmental operations, staff development, budgeting, regulatory compliance, quality initiatives, and strategic planning while ensuring exceptional patient care and operational excellence.

The ideal candidate is a collaborative healthcare leader with strong clinical imaging expertise, acute care hospital experience, and a proven background managing Radiology or Imaging departments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Direct the daily operations of the Radiology/Imaging Department.

  • Provide leadership, coaching, mentoring, and performance management for imaging staff.

  • Recruit, hire, onboard, train, evaluate, and develop department employees.

  • Manage departmental operating and capital budgets.

  • Monitor financial performance and identify opportunities for operational improvement.

  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, accreditation standards, and regulatory requirements.

  • Oversee departmental quality initiatives and implement process improvement strategies.

  • Collaborate with physicians, nursing leadership, and hospital administration to support organizational goals.

  • Develop and communicate departmental policies, procedures, and performance expectations.

  • Maintain appropriate internal controls and ensure regulatory readiness.

  • Resolve operational challenges while promoting a culture of patient safety and continuous improvement.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology or Imaging Program required

  • Bachelor's degree preferred

  • Master's degree preferred

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of technical imaging experience

  • Minimum of 2 years of management or leadership experience

  • Acute care hospital experience required

Licensure & Certifications

  • Active American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification required

  • Current state Radiologic Technologist license required

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree

  • Certified Radiology Administrator (CRA) certification

  • Experience leading Radiology or Imaging operations within an acute care hospital

  • Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, accreditation standards, budgeting, quality improvement, and departmental operations
