Why This Role Matters
We are seeking a licensed Physical Therapist, Occupational Therapist, or Speech-Language Pathologist to serve as Director of Rehabilitation. This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the rehabilitation program, mentoring a multidisciplinary therapy team, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, resident-centered care in alignment with regulatory and organizational standards.
Reporting: This position collaborates closely with facility leadership, nursing, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to support clinical excellence and operational performance.
Role Overview
- Lead and manage the daily operations of the rehabilitation department
- Supervise, mentor, and support Physical Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Speech-Language Pathologists, assistants, and therapy aides
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and facility regulations, including documentation standards
- Collaborate with nursing, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to coordinate resident care
- Develop and oversee individualized care plans and support PDPM processes
- Monitor productivity, clinical outcomes, and departmental performance metrics
- Participate in audits, care conferences, and leadership meetings
- Promote a positive, collaborative, and professional work environment
What We’re Looking For
- Active California license in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech-Language Pathology, in good standing
- Minimum of one year of experience as a Director of Rehabilitation in a skilled nursing facility is required
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, or Speech-Language Pathology (or higher)
- Prior leadership experience within a rehabilitation department preferred
- Strong knowledge of PDPM, Medicare, and skilled nursing facility regulations
- Experience with EMR systems and regulatory compliance
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to foster teamwork, professional growth, and clinical excellence
- Passion for serving the geriatric population
