Position Overview:

The Director of Sales -East will lead a team of sales managers, coordinators and rep agencies responsible for managing and growing business for an established portfolio of hunting and shooting accessories brands consisting of customers ranging from mass retailers, dealers and distributors. The Director will be responsible for managing the Eastern region of the United States. The position will report to the Vice President of Sales - Outdoor Sports.

Education and Experience:

  • BS or BA undergraduate degree required
  • Masters or MBA a plus
  • 7+ years sales experience with Outdoor Recreation retail/wholesale customers; preferably in the Hunt, Shoot, Camp and/or Fish segments
  • 5+ years sales management experience successfully delivering target results on a portfolio of Outdoor Recreation products comprised of 8 or more brands across multiple categories in the Hunt, Shoot, Camp and/or Fish segments
  • 5+ years sales management experience leading direct as well as indirect sales teams across multiple regions of the United States that service customers in the Hunt, Shoot, Camp and/or Fish segments
  • 5+ years sales leadership experience on cross functional teams working with product development, operations and marketing to develop product, programs and systems that drive sales growth and profitability in the Hunt, Shoot, Camp and/or Fish segments
  • 5+ years sales leadership experience developing annual strategies and plans that not only meet/exceed topline expectations, but also bottom-line margin and profitability expectations in the Hunt, Shoot, Camp and/or Fish segments
  • Proven track record of developing and leveraging long-term customer relationships at the senior, director and vice-president levels
  • Proven track record of developing sales teams including recruiting, training, performance improvement as well as long-term career planning and successorship
  • Proven track record at running a business as an owner including examples of success in entrepreneurship, improving a COT and/or division P&L over a 12-month timeframe, initiating, developing and launching a new product as well as long-term decision making

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute short and long-term go-to-market sales strategies and plans, sales and margin goals, forecasts, programs and trade budgets
  • Manage and develop sales personnel
  • Develop, plan, and execute trade show and event programs
  • Serve as a consistent resource for the product development and engineering teams on market conditions, competitors, current portfolio performance
  • Work closely with brand managers to develop promotions, merchandising and programs that profitably drive the region for multiple brands in the Outdoor Products & Accessories portfolio
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical Demands:

  • Position requires individual to be available to travel 1-2 weeks each month. Location near a primary airport is a plus.

Work Environment and Personal Protective Equipment:

Within any of our facilities, employees may be exposed to manufacturing noise, airborne liquid chemicals, fine particulate dust, ambient temperatures, and industrial lighting. Work environment is similar to most manufacturing and distribution operations. May be exposed to excessive noise, temperatures, hazards associated with working around moving machinery, work in confined quarters, exposure to vibrations and shop lighting, continuous exposure to hot temperatures, may be humid, odors, dust, continuous exposure to mechanical hazards, and occasional exposure to chemical hazards.

The following Personal Protective Equipment is required:

  • Safety glasses with side shields and hearing protection required when on manufacturing floor

The use of additional personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required when a job task(s) is being completed in or around your assigned department or in another department, this includes safety eyewear, hearing protection, and safety footwear.
