The Director of Sales & Marketing is responsible for leading all sales and marketing initiatives for The Westin Houston Downtown. This leader will direct, coordinate, supervise, coach, and develop the Sales and Marketing team while driving revenue growth across group, transient, catering, and local market segments.
The Director of Sales & Marketing will be accountable for achieving and exceeding revenue goals, maximizing market share, developing strategic sales plans, and strengthening the hotel's competitive position. This position will also oversee the hotel's marketing efforts and collaborate closely with Landry's Corporate Marketing Division to develop and execute effective marketing strategies that enhance awareness, occupancy, guest engagement, and profitability.
Responsibilities:
Utilize CI/TY, Marriott reporting tools, and market intelligence data to identify opportunities, evaluate performance, and develop strategies that increase market share and revenue.
Ensure all sales managers effectively utilize Marriott systems to manage accounts, prospect new business, track production, and achieve individual and team goals.
Maintain expert-level knowledge of Marriott sales, revenue, and distribution systems and ensure compliance with Marriott brand requirements.
Partner closely with Revenue Management to analyze performance metrics, booking pace, market share, and competitive positioning.
Lead all sales forecasting, budgeting, and strategic planning efforts for the hotel.
Drive accountability through regular review of production reports, CI/TY data, and sales activity metrics.
Qualifications:
Minimum of 6 years progressive hotel sales experience; or a 4-year college degree with at least 3 years of hotel sales leadership experience; or a 2-year college degree with at least 5 years of hotel sales experience
Prior Director of Sales, Assistant Director of Sales, or senior hotel sales leadership experience preferred
Supervisory and team leadership experience required
Valid driver's license
Experience working within Marriott-branded hotels preferred
Advanced knowledge of sales systems, reporting platforms, and tools, including CI/TY, GXP, One Yield, and other Marriott commercial systems.
Demonstrated ability to analyze CI/TY data, market share performance, production reports, and revenue trends to develop strategic sales plans.
Strong understanding of Marriott brand standards, sales processes, and commercial reporting.
Excellent leadership, communication, coaching, and organizational skills.
