The Fifth Avenue Hotel, an award-winning luxury destination, is seeking a Director of Sales to join our team. Nestled in the heart of Manhattan, our hotel is a vibrant oasis featuring 149 beautifully appointed guest rooms, where personal service, extraordinary design, distinctive cuisine, compelling art, and immersive cultural experiences come together to create something truly exceptional.

POSITION OVERVIEW

As the Director of Sales, you will provide strategic leadership to the sales team and operational oversight to maximize total hotel revenue and elevate sales operations across all business segments. The Director of Sales will be responsible for developing and growing high-value accounts through strong relationships across luxury travel, fashion, entertainment and production. This role requires a visionary leader with commercial acumen, selling mindset, refined interpersonal skills, and a genuine passion for maintaining the "flâneur" spirit through high-level client relationships, luxury brand alignment, and flawless guest experiences.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Strategic Sales Leadership

• In collaboration with the Vice President of Sales, the Director of Sales will develop and execute long-term sales strategies across transient, corporate, group, leisure, and luxury travel agency channels to exceed revenue goals.
• Direct and oversee all sales operations to ensure an uncompromising, five-star (and beyond) standard of hospitality.
• Leverage market intelligence, competitor positioning, and industry trends to promote the hotel’s 149 guest rooms, private event spaces, and vibrant public areas.
• Work closely with Revenue Management to ensure rate integrity, inventory optimization and market positioning.

The Flâneur Environment

• Champion the hotel’s artistic identity and design narrative across all high-level sales proposals, partner showcases, and executive site inspections.
• Architect strategic luxury partnerships and brand activations that spark curiosity, drive client engagement, and set the hotel apart in the Manhattan market.

 

Personalized Service & Strategic Relationships

• Build and nurture relationships with leading global travel networks, key decision-makers, and high-net-worth clients.
• Attend major luxury travel events, tradeshows and road shows to strengthen market presence, generate new business and represent The Fifth Avenue Hotel globally. 
• Partner with the Guest Experience team to curate bespoke VIP itineraries, tailored client setups, and memorable "surprise and delight" experiences for major accounts.

Leadership & Collaboration

• Lead, mentor, and inspire the sales team, fostering a high-performance culture rooted in professional warmth, accountability, and luxury excellence.
• Work seamlessly with Revenue Management, Marketing, Food & Beverage, and Hotel Operations to align commercial efforts and ensure flawless execution.

Financial & Administrative Stewardship

• Manage departmental budgets, quarterly forecasts, and sales pipeline targets while maintaining luxury margins.
• Track, analyze, and communicate client feedback and sales metrics to drive continuous operational and revenue improvements.

SAFETY & SECURITY

Uphold rigorous safety, data security, and confidentiality protocols for corporate guests, VIPs, and client accounts within all sales operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or equivalent experience preferred.
• Significant sales experience within luxury, boutique, or five-star hospitality settings.
• Exceptional strategic planning, analytical, and communication abilities.
• Proven ability to multi-task and lead, develop and inspire team in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• A keen eye for design, art, and the "intentional details" that define modern luxury travel.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

• Flexible schedule, including travel, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed to host key clients and support 24/7 hotel operations.
• Physically active role requiring standing, walking, and the ability to conduct extensive site inspections of all property areas.
