We are seeking an experienced Director of Sales to lead and manage our grocery-focused meat and poultry sales team. This individual will be hands-on, on-site five days per week, and responsible for driving revenue growth through team leadership, customer strategy, and consultative selling execution.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES- Lead, manage, and coach the sales team to achieve and exceed revenue and growth targets while maintaining a strong on-site presence five days per week.
- Establish sales goals, performance metrics, and accountability standards, and provide ongoing coaching through ride-alongs, call reviews, and regular performance feedback.
- Oversee the growth and retention of existing grocery accounts and partner with Sales Representatives on key accounts and strategic opportunities.
- Drive new customer acquisition and expansion to support continued business growth.
- Ensure the team maintains strong knowledge of meat and poultry products, including cut, yield, and pricing.
- Provide competitive and market analysis to inform sales strategy, pricing, and product mix decisions.
- Collaborate closely with Customer Service, Operations, and leadership to ensure alignment and execution across departments.
- Resolve escalated customer issues and support long-term relationship management.
- Participate in client meetings both on-site and in the field as needed.
- Lead by example with professionalism, accountability, and a consultative sales approach.
QUALIFICATIONS - High School Diploma or GED required; additional education a plus.
- 5+ years of sales experience selling perishable items to grocery stores.
- Prior experience selling meat and poultry strongly preferred, with a solid understanding of cut, yield, and pricing.
- 2+ years of sales management or leadership experience.
- Proven ability to coach consultative sales teams (order-taking mindset will not be successful).
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and highly reliable.
- Ability to work with clients both in person and over the phone.
