Job Description
Technical Solutions Inc. is currently seeking a Director of Service on behalf of our client, an HVAC contractor based in the Pittsburgh area. The Director of Service is responsible for leading and overseeing all service operations within the company, including maintenance, warranty, repair, and service-related projects. This role ensures high-quality service delivery, operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and profitability while aligning service operations with company goals and standards.
Description:
Leadership & Management
- Lead, mentor, and manage service managers, supervisors, and field service teams
- Establish performance goals, conduct evaluations, and support professional development
- Foster a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Service Operations
- Oversee daily service operations, including scheduling, dispatch, and field execution
- Ensure timely and high-quality completion of service and warranty work
- Develop and implement service policies, procedures, and best practices
- Coordinate service activities with construction, project management, and sales teams
Customer Relations
- Serve as the senior point of contact for escalated customer service issues
- Build long-term client relationships and ensure high customer satisfaction
- Monitor service performance metrics and customer feedback
Financial & Business Management
- Develop and manage the service department budget
- Track and improve service profitability, margins, and cost controls
- Prepare forecasts, reports, and performance analyses for leadership
- Identify opportunities for service growth, upselling, and recurring revenue
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations, company policies, and industry standards
- Oversee warranty compliance and risk management related to service work
- Promote continuous quality improvement across all service activities
Strategic Planning
- Develop long-term service strategies aligned with company objectives
- Evaluate and implement tools, technology, and systems to improve service efficiency
- Analyze market trends and recommend new service offerings or improvements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience) or 8-12 years of experience in construction or service operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
- Strong knowledge of construction service, maintenance, and warranty operations
- Proven experience managing budgets, teams, and operational processes
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Experience in commercial construction or specialty trades
- Familiarity with service management software and ERP systems
- Professional certifications (PMP, CCM, or similar)
