Hartford Union High School is seeking a full-time innovative, student-focused Director of Student Services commencing with the 2026-2027 school year. The position works 260 days a year. RESPONSIBILITIES AND PERFORMANCE TASKS

Budget

• Develop, submit, implement, and monitor the special education and student service budgets.
• Work with the Director of Business Services Human Resources to develop, and manage IDEA Grant, and other student service and special education grants

Leadership and Management

• Lead and manage Health Services.
• Lead Mental Health and Well-Being Council and corresponding initiatives.
• Coordinate school district compliance with all federal and state nondiscrimination laws (Title IX, Section 504, Title II of the ADA).
• Supervise and evaluate special education, health, and student services certified and support staff.
• Lead, monitor, and communicate District programs for children with special education needs to ensure quality, progress, and compliance. Submit required state reports for special education indicators.
• Coordinate the pre-expulsion/expulsion process in consultation with the building principal.
• Review, revise, and update policies related to scope of position and associated work.
• Supervise and monitor staff implementation of student service programming to include: interventions, modifications, and accommodations for students (e.g., IEPs, Section 504 Plans, AODA, homelessness).
• Manage and ensure complete and timely submission of IDEA.
• Lead professional learning in coordination with other educators.
• Hear, investigate, resolve appeals of student disciplinary actions and other public complaints such as but not limited to, harassment, bullying, discrimination, hazing, and appeals of student disciplinary actions or other public complaints.
• Oversee and coordinate plans and programs for suicide prevention, child abuse, sexual assault awareness, and crisis team operation.
• Coordinate special education out-of-district placement services for students.
• Ensure student records are maintained as required by state law to meet student needs.
• Lead the student service support team. Effectively work and communicate with parents/guardians, families, and community members along with addressing and resolving concerns relative to school matters.
• Serve on district leadership teams, councils, and committees as appropriate.
• Seek and engage in professional development opportunities for self as well as those they supervise.

Requirements:

• Masters Degree
• Valid Wisconsin Driver's License.
• One to three years related experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, and Google docs.
