Description

The Director of Student Success is responsible for the vision, leadership, management, accountability, and direction of college-wide efforts regarding student engagement, retention, completion, and transfer initiatives, and related initiatives to improving student goal attainment. This position provides leadership for the following areas: Academic Advisement, Transfer Services, Career Services, Retention Services, Counseling and other Social Services and supports the college and its international students by acting as the Principal Designated School Official (PDSO),

Examples of Duties

A. Supervises areas of student affairs including advisement services, transfer services, career services, study abroad, and retention services.

B. Conducts an annual student success plan aligned with metrics of performance expectations to evaluate the effectiveness of all areas under the supervision of the Director of Student Success. Maintains data and provides reports to the Vice President of Student Affairs.

C. Develops innovative practices related to student enrollment, advising, and funding in response to ongoing emergent needs that result in barriers to student retention and completion.

D. Serves as the international student advisor and Principal Designated School Official (PDSO) for the college. Assists with the development of the international admissions process in collaboration with the Admissions and Registration staff. Serves as an advocate for F-1 students, develops and delivers orientation, maintains campus communications. Ensures compliance with federal regulations, maintains SEVIS records and supporting documentation; informs international students of federal regulations. Assists and supports students with SEVIS-related processes.

E. Collaborates with departments across campus to develop and support retention initiatives including the implementation and utilization of the retention software program.

F. Maintains third-party contract to provide counseling services to students. Acts as the liaison to the counseling service agency and KCC faculty, staff and students.

G. Serves on and leads college committees as assigned, including but not limited to the Enrollment Management Team, Curriculum and Academic Standards, software implementation teams.

H. Maintains colleague related degree audits, course pre-requisites and exceptions.

I. Advises a cohort of students providing academic, retention and support services.

J. Maintains efficient budget management relative to all areas of supervision.

K. Collaborates with other departments within the college to promote Student Affairs and its various outreach activities and programs, and assists in the planning, organization, and execution of commencement program.

Minimum Qualifications

A. Master's Degree or higher in Student Development, Student Affairs, Community College Leadership, Educational Leadership or related field.

B. Five years of increasingly responsible experience in an educational setting with an emphasis on advising, student conduct, retention, program development, or other student services work; Community college experience preferred.

C. Two years of experience supervising full-time administrative staff.

D. Qualified candidate must have excellent reading, writing, and computation skills, as well as strong computer experience with Microsoft office or comparable software applications.

Supplemental Information

Hiring range: $80,421/yr min. - $92,484/yr 1st quartile - $104,547/yr mid,
