Director of Supply Chain

JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Supply Chain strategically leads our end-to-end supply chain operations. This critical leadership role is responsible for overseeing and integrating the Production Planning and Control, Procurement, Material Handling, and Shipping and Receiving departments to drive efficiency, optimize costs, and ensure exceptional service delivery.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned:

2. Strategic Leadership & Oversight

• Develop and execute a comprehensive supply chain strategy that aligns with overall business objectives for growth, profitability, and customer satisfaction.
• Lead, mentor, and develop the leadership teams within Procurement, Planning, and Material Handling/Logistics.
• Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) for the entire supply chain function and drive continuous improvement across all departments.
• Manage the departmental budget and forecast to achieve optimal cost-efficiency and return on investment.
• Implement and leverage supply chain technology (e.g., ERP, WMS, S&OP platforms) to enhance visibility and decision-making.

3. Procurement

• Define and execute strategic sourcing initiatives, including supplier identification, negotiation, and contract management.
• Oversee all aspects of contract lifecycle management for the company, ensuring terms are favorable, compliance is maintained, and risks are mitigated.
• Lead complex, high-value negotiations for materials, services, and capital expenditures, focusing on total cost of ownership (TCO) and long-term value.
• Ensure the establishment of strong, resilient supplier relationships and monitor supplier performance against quality, cost, and delivery standards.
• Drive cost reduction strategies through effective negotiation, value engineering, and volume leverage, while maintaining quality and supply continuity.
• Manage risk within the supply base, including geopolitical, financial, and regulatory compliance risks.

4. Production Planning and Control

• Oversee the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process, ensuring alignment between demand forecasts, production capacity, and inventory levels.
• Direct all planning activities, including demand planning, production scheduling, and material requirements planning (MRP).
• Develop and implement inventory strategies (e.g., safety stock, reorder points) to minimize carrying costs while maximizing product availability and fill rates.
• Monitor forecast accuracy and drive improvements to reduce obsolescence and expedite costs.

5. Material Handling

• Direct the material flow within the facilities, including inbound receiving, warehousing, inventory control, and outbound shipping/distribution.
• Optimize warehouse layouts, material storage, and internal logistics processes to maximize throughput and minimize handling costs.
• Oversee all transportation and logistics operations, negotiating freight contracts and managing carrier relationships to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery.
• Ensure strict compliance with all safety, quality, and regulatory standards within the material handling and logistics operations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Engineering, or a related field. A Master's degree or relevant certification (e.g., CSCMP, APICS/CPIM) is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 10+ years of progressive experience in supply chain, with at least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing Supply Chain or Manufacturing functions (Procurement, Planning, Logistics).
• Deep expertise in S&OP processes and ERP/MRP systems implementation and optimization (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite).
• Exceptional negotiation and supplier relationship management skills.
• Demonstrated ability to drive operational excellence and process improvement using methodologies like Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and financial acumen.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
