Director of Surgical Services – Permanent Leadership Opportunity

Location: Dickson, Tennessee
Employment Type: Permanent | Full-Time
Schedule: Day Shift | No Weekends


Position Summary

"Navitas Healthcare, LLC" is seeking an experienced Director of Surgical Services to lead and oversee all operational, financial, staffing, quality, and strategic initiatives across Surgical Services departments.

This leadership role reports directly to the Hospital COO and oversees:

  • Operating Room (OR)
  • Pre-Admission Testing (PAT)
  • Same Day Surgery
  • PACU
  • Endoscopy
  • OR Scheduling & Analysts

The Director will provide leadership to:

  • 3 Department Managers
  • Approximately 46 FTEs

The ideal candidate will foster operational excellence, accountability, collaboration, and patient-centered care while supporting organizational goals and regulatory compliance.


Key Responsibilities

Quality & Clinical Excellence

  • Ensure high-quality, evidence-based patient care delivery
  • Maintain compliance with regulatory, legal, and accreditation standards
  • Improve operational efficiency and patient throughput
  • Oversee departmental policies, procedures, and equipment management
  • Promote interdisciplinary collaboration and accountability

Leadership & Staff Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop surgical services teams
  • Promote employee engagement and professional development
  • Recruit, retain, and build high-performing clinical teams
  • Foster a positive culture aligned with organizational mission and values

Patient Experience

  • Drive patient satisfaction and customer service initiatives
  • Utilize patient feedback metrics to improve outcomes
  • Support evidence-based patient experience strategies

Financial & Operational Management

  • Participate in budgeting and financial forecasting processes
  • Monitor labor management, departmental productivity, and expenses
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining quality standards
  • Ensure efficient staffing and scheduling operations

Strategic Growth

  • Collaborate with physicians and executive leadership on service line growth
  • Support operational innovation and technology advancements
  • Identify opportunities for market expansion and differentiation

Required Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required
  • Master’s Degree preferred

Experience

  • Minimum 1+ year recent Acute Care Surgical Services Director or Manager experience required
  • Minimum 3+ years Acute Care Surgical Services experience required
