    Description

    Title: Tax Director, Real Estate
    Location: Orange County, CA – hybrid (50% in-office)
    Salary: $170K–$260K base (DOE)

    Overview
    A growing public accounting firm is seeking a Tax Director to lead real estate-focused engagements. This role combines technical tax expertise, client advisory, team leadership, and business development.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Review complex tax returns (partnerships, individuals, S-Corps, C-Corps) and supporting workpapers
    • Advise clients on tax implications of business and personal transactions
    • Research complex tax issues (federal, state, and international) and prepare technical memoranda
    • Lead multiple client engagements, ensuring quality, timelines, and profitability
    • Manage engagement budgets, staffing, and client relationships
    • Mentor and develop team members; provide technical guidance and training
    • Stay current on tax law changes and share insights internally and with clients
    • Respond to IRS and other tax authority inquiries, audits, and notices
    • Identify opportunities to expand services with existing clients and support new business efforts
    • Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver comprehensive client solutions

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting; Master's in Tax or related field preferred
    • Active CPA license
    • 7+ years of public accounting tax experience
    • 3+ years in a leadership/managerial role
    • Strong technical tax knowledge and research skills
    • Proven ability to manage teams, projects, and client relationships
    • Experience with tax software and engagement management tools (ex, CCH Axcess or similar)
