Spiritual Assessment. Interviews patients to conduct spiritual assessment. Determines patient's faith or preference for pastoral care. Conveys assessment to other professionals to be considered in patient's total care. Incumbent meets the religious and spiritual needs of patients. Incumbent provides pastoral care in a timely manner including initial visits to newly admitted patients, daily ward visitations, visits the seriously ill, intensive care units, preoperative and postoperative patients. Performs pastoral interview to ascertain patient's religious background, evaluates his/her religious needs, and advises of the specialized spiritual resources of the Spiritual Care Department. Documentation: Responsible for documenting patient care in accordance with the Spiritual Care Department's policies, i.e., all emergency call backs, response to patient and family request, referrals from other staff members, initial seriously ill visits and any significant information relative to the total health care treatment of the patient. Documentation will be completed in patient medical record and the Spiritual Care Department Shared Drive. Spiritual Counseling. Serves as spiritual counselor to patients, their families, and staff members on ethical and moral matters, including problems of conscience and family and marital differences. Offers spiritual consolation, support and guidance to those looking to solve personal problems in adjustment to their illness or confinement. Incumbent performs pre and post-op visits in a timely professional manner. Counsels patients and provides supportive care for family members, and significant others of patients, with life threatening illness, patients diagnosed as terminal, and at time of death of patient. Knowledge Required by the Position. Incumbent has successfully completed the extensive professional training required for ordination, and has a background of practical pastoral knowledge and skills gained through pastoral training or other practical experience. • Supervisory Controls. Performs independent and responsible professional religious ministry. Works under the general professional direction of the Associate Director of Spiritual Care, who provides standards of performance, program requirements, and performance evaluation through review of the incumbent's activity reports and by program inspections. Refers questions he/she feels are beyond his/her scope of responsibility. Guidelines. Chaplain guidelines are available in the form of written policies, procedures, and instructions. Consults with supervisors and colleagues in developing knowledge and applying agency policies and practices to new matters. Complexity. The emphasis of the position is primarily on the religious services as such, and the program is not marked to any significant degree by the kind of intensive pastoral counseling that is an integral part of the total treatment program.

Follows applicable regulations and instructions regarding access to computerized files, release of access codes, etc., as set out in the computer access agreement that the employee signs.COMPUTER SKILLS:Proficient in the use of Windows based office software including but not limited to Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
