Serves as the Director of Nursing Education, Research, Retention & Special Projects
Identifies various strategic and operational training/development needs and issues of the organization, works with management and other departments to establish training and development strategies and plans
Oversees the development and delivery of individual and/or group training and instructional programs, based on established plans, and encompassing a wide range of technical, operational, and/or management skill areas.
Develops or oversees the development of training curricula; formulates or reviews training outlines, and determines appropriate instructional methodologies and formats; evaluates and recommends incorporation of vender programs, as appropriate to meet overall departmental training goals and objectives.
Oversees and coordinates the development and preparation of teaching and visual aids, instructional materials, computer tutorials, and reference materials appropriate to specific program objectives.
Evaluates the effectiveness of training and development programs and utilize relevant evaluations data to revise or recommend changes in instructional objectives and methods.
Develops and implement projects and programs to assist in accomplishment of departmental goals.
Works and meets with all staff in the Department of Nursing Education to fulfill the goals and objectives of the Department
Represents the Nursing Services at various community and/or business meetings; promotes existing and new programs.
Maintains departmental reports and records; collects statistical data for administrative and education purposes.
Collaborate with Department of Public Affairs to develop and implement responsive education and/or training programs for community agencies and services, as appropriate to the individual position.
Consultant for overall nursing practice, service, and education programs; conducts studies and directs projects; provides leadership in the development, coordination and evaluation of the hospital nursing service, practice and education programs.
Directs the development of identified community out-reach projects via Nursing Education.
Develops programs with Nursing Leadership to ensure retention and reduce turnover rates amongst new hires.
Collaborates with Human Resource Department to ensure compliance with required regulatory guidelines governing recruitment and orientation of personnel.
Serves as the Nursing department liaison with Human Resources regarding nurse recruitment.
Develop programs, with Nursing Leadership to increase retention and reduce turnover rates for new hires.
Reduce vacancies by strengthening networking opportunities with affiliate schools of nursing.
Reduce vacancies by collaborating with Human Resources for developing internships for identified graduating nursing students.
Required Skills:
Minimum of 4 years of high-level, responsible nursing administration experience, including at least 3 years in a hospital.
A satisfactory equivalent combination of education, experience, and training may be considered, subject to organizational requirements.
Experience leading a nursing/clinical team, preferably in a nursing education or leadership capacity.
Recent acute-care hospital experience, with strong understanding of hospital nursing operations.
EMR experience, with the ability to work effectively within hospital systems and documentation processes.

Current New York State RN license and registration
BLS
ACLS
Master's degree in Nursing Administration or equivalent field
