DIRECTOR OF TREASURY

Bishop & Company is pleased to represent a well-established Hawaii grocery retail organization in its search for a Director of Treasury.
This is a hands-on, in-the-grind treasury role focused on cash flow management, daily banking operations, and maintaining strong relationships with local Hawaii financial institutions. This is an operational treasury role for someone who thrives on moving money, managing liquidity, and working directly with local banks day to day.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Cash & Liquidity Management
• Direct daily cash positioning and manage bank account balances to meet operational needs
• Ensure adequate working capital and partner with operations to identify actions to raise working capital as needed
• Develop and update rolling cash flow forecasts to anticipate seasonal trends and capital requirements
• Oversee electronic payment processing for vendors, including large-scale inventory suppliers
• Approve intercompany quarterly settlements
Banking & Financing
• Maintain and negotiate relationships with local Hawaii financial institutions for credit facilities and loans
• Work with the CFO on financing strategy and execution
• Partner with general counsel to finalize debt agreements and renewals
• Manage debt portfolios and ensure compliance with lender covenants
Capital Expenditures
• Establish and administer a formal capital expenditure (CER) process aligned with capital budgeting and policy
• Review all CERs, obtain supporting documentation and analysis, and secure appropriate sign-offs
Benefit Plan Asset Management
• Chair the Benefit Plan Committee — set agendas and ensure fiduciary responsibilities to participants are met
• Monitor pension and 401(k) plan asset performance in partnership with benefit consultants
• Determine plan contributions and complete plan testing with actuaries
• Work with the Plans' trustee (First Hawaiian Bank) to ensure sufficient cash to pay benefits
• Chair the ILWU Multiemployer Pension Committee (Business Trustee)
• Perform other projects and duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS
Required
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Financial Data Analytics; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum 8 years of corporate finance or treasury experience
• Hands-on experience working directly with local Hawaii banks and financial institutions — this is a must-have
• Strong cash flow management experience with a focus on daily operational execution
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office with expert-level Excel skills
• Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, particularly in banking relationships
Preferred
• MBA, CFA, or CPA
• Grocery, retail, or related industry experience strongly preferred
• Familiarity with ILWU multiemployer pension plan administration

Compensation
Compensation and title are determined individually for each candidate based on the skills and experience they bring to the role. The expected starting salary range for this position is typically an estimated $150,000 - $175,000 annually. This salary is not a guarantee of a specific salary or title; final compensation and title depend on multiple factors, including education, experience, certifications, and other job related requirements, and may fall outside the range listed above.
