Hillcrest Highlands of Gretna is a resort-style senior living community designed around comfort, connection, independence, and meaningful daily experiences. Our team is committed to creating a warm, supportive environment where residents feel known, valued, and cared for.

At Hillcrest, our mission is simple: Inspiring people to live their best lives. As the Director of Wellness Services, you will play a key leadership role in supporting resident health, guiding care teams, and ensuring residents in Assisted Living and Memory Care receive thoughtful, high-quality support every day.

What You'll Do

As the Director of Wellness Services, you will coordinate and oversee health maintenance activities for Assisted Living and Memory Care residents while ensuring compliance with state, federal, local, and Hillcrest standards.

You will:

  • Provide direction and oversight for Medication Aides and Personal Care Assistants to ensure resident needs are met according to service agreements.

  • Create, coordinate, and manage PCA and Medication Aide schedules to support adequate staffing and continuity of care.

  • Implement physician orders and ensure documentation is completed accurately in resident records.

  • Complete required assessments, including pre-move-in, move-in, ongoing, and change-in-condition assessments.

  • Monitor daily observations completed by PCAs and Medication Aides to ensure accuracy and timeliness.

  • Prepare physician updates, medication administration sheets, appointment information, and transportation notifications.

  • Review documentation daily to ensure compliance with Assisted Living regulations and Hillcrest policy.

  • Review and verify MARs for errors, missed doses, missing signatures, and accuracy.

  • Monitor resident health needs and complete weekly rounds with primary care when applicable.

  • Maintain current knowledge of residents' ADL and behavior-management needs as outlined in resident service plans.

  • Investigate event reports, complete root-cause analysis, and communicate action plans as needed.

  • Ensure appropriate notifications are made to the Administrator, physician, and resident families.

  • Ensure medications are provided according to the Medication Aide Act.

  • Determine Medication Aide competency and make appropriate assignments based on resident safety and team member capability.

  • Participate in Plan of Care conferences with residents, families, or appointed designees.

  • Actively participate in Quality Assurance, Performance Improvement, Safety Committee, and Risk Meetings.

  • Support fiscal management of the Health Services budget, including labor variance review and spend-down tools.

  • Participate in on-call rotations as scheduled and needed.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for a leader who brings clinical confidence, strong organization, and a heart for serving aging adults.

The right candidate will be comfortable leading care teams, supporting Assisted Living and Memory Care residents, managing priorities, and creating a culture of accountability, compassion, and follow-through.

Ideal candidates will have:

  • At least one year of clinical experience in geriatrics, Assisted Living, or Dementia care required.

  • At least two years of leadership experience preferred.

  • Strong understanding of Assisted Living regulations, resident assessments, service plans, and medication-management processes.

  • Experience leading Medication Aides, Personal Care Assistants, or similar care team members.

  • Strong attention to detail with documentation, MAR review, assessments, and regulatory compliance.

  • Ability to manage schedules, staffing needs, team member accountability, and continuity of care.

  • Strong communication skills with residents, families, providers, team members, and leadership.

  • Ability to investigate concerns, identify root causes, and implement action plans.

  • A calm, flexible, and professional approach in changing or stressful situations.

  • Comfort using technology, clinical systems, and resources efficiently and effectively.

Education & Credentials

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program required.

  • Active Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse license in Nebraska or a compact state required.

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.

  • Geriatric certification preferred.

  • Basic Life Support CPR certification required or willingness to obtain within 45 days of hire.
