Job Title: Director of Wholesale Accounting
Compensation: $180,000–$200,000 base salary + bonus
Schedule: Hybrid — four days per week onsite in NYC
This is a high-impact leadership role responsible for overseeing the accounting operations supporting the company’s wholesale channel. The Director will lead key areas of the monthly close, financial reporting, general ledger, balance sheet reconciliations, inventory accounting, revenue recognition, and internal controls.
Key responsibilities include:
• Leading monthly close and management reporting for the wholesale business
• Overseeing inventory reserves, production overhead capitalization, sales dilution reserves, revenue recognition, and gross profit analysis
• Reviewing balance sheet reconciliations and providing variance commentary
• Strengthening accounting processes, policies, workflows, and internal controls
• Supporting external audits and reporting requirements related to the company’s asset-backed lending facility
• Partnering with FP&A, IT, AR, AP, Tax, Treasury, and Operations
• Leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing accounting team
• Driving systems enhancements, process improvements, and other strategic initiatives
The ideal candidate will have:
• 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, including leadership responsibilities
• A bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• A public accounting background
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and revenue recognition
• Previous accounting experience with a company engaged in the wholesale distribution of apparel, accessories, or other consumer products
• Experience with systems implementations and/or accounting process re-engineering
• Advanced Excel skills; SAP experience is preferred
• CPA strongly preferred
