Director of Youth Ministry

Are you passionate about serving the youth in our Catholic community? Join us at the Good Shepherd Pastorate in Sioux Falls, SD as our Director of Youth Ministry! We are seeking a dynamic individual to assist the youth of the parishes of Holy Spirit in Sioux Falls and St Dominic in Canton in developing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ in their daily life, to encourage life-long learning, and participation in the faith. The Director of Youth Ministry will work from the office at Holy Spirit Parish to provide our youth with a sound knowledge based about the Catholic faith, a love for the Catholic church, and will foster the belief that service is an integral part of discipleship.

Responsibilities:

• Regularly engage in ecclesiastical or religious activities that serve to convey the message of the Catholic Church, carry out its mission and attend to the religious needs of the faithful as called for in the doctrine, teachings and traditions of the Catholic Faith.

• Organize and supervise small groups to foster connections for young people.

• Form and supervise adult lay volunteers to run church-level small groups.

• Organize and direct events and activities that convey the message of the Catholic Church.

• Develop 2-3 yearly retreats and trips that carry out the mission of the Catholic Church.

• Organize, promote, and participate in defined Pastorate and Diocesan events and opportunities— including liturgies, festivals, etc.—that teach the doctrine, teachings, and traditions of the Catholic Faith.

• Collaborate with the communications director for communication procedures that comply with all diocesan safe environment policies.

• The development, maintenance, communication, and execution of a twelve-month calendar, record keeping, metrics tracking, activity/event evaluations, budgeting, and fundraising.

• Create an attitude of service among the youth participating in the Youth Ministry program by proactively seeking service opportunities by monitoring city, statewide, and national current events.

• Work collaboratively with other Youth Minister programs to achieve citywide participation and planning for citywide lock-ins, annual concerts, fundraising, and nationally focused events/conferences, such as the annual Steubenville youth conference, distinctive national conferences (e.g. National Eucharistic Congress).

We are looking for a candidate who is enthusiastic, creative, and committed to nurturing the faith development of our youth. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in youth ministry and a passion for working with young people.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in theology, education, or National Credential in Youth Ministry or background in theology and education methodologies preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience showing increased growth in organizational leadership skills preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with youth, parents, volunteers, and parish staff.
• Active member of a Roman Catholic parish faith community.
