Job Description:

The Role

As Director of Plan Consulting, you will lead and develop a team of 10-15 Plan Consultants supporting IRS pre-approved document creation and ongoing ERISA compliance for 401(k) and 403(b) plans within the WI CAPS organization. You will play a critical role in shaping the Plan Consulting team strategy, driving operational excellence, and fostering a high-performing, inclusive team culture.

Key Responsibilities

As a leader, you will champion innovation, execution excellence, and strategic alignment by:

  • Defining and driving strategic objectives for Plan Consulting, demonstrating data and insights to inform decisions and measure outcomes.

  • Owning the end-to-end Plan Consulting service model, ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery aligned with client and business needs.

  • Using important metrics and analytics to monitor performance, proactively identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.

  • Leading, coaching, and developing a high-performing, multi-site team of Plan Consultants.

  • Fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer focus.

  • Navigating and resolving complex blocking issues with good judgment and urgency.

  • Partnering closely with Legal, Implementation, Sales, and Relationship Management to ensure seamless delivery and alignment on priorities.

  • Acting as a key collaborator in enterprise initiatives impacting document services and compliance processes.

  • Discovering opportunities to streamline processes, enhance service scalability, and improve the client experience.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • Proven leadership experience managing teams, preferably across multiple locations.

  • Demonstrated success in process improvement, operational efficiency, and escalation management.

  • Strong executive communication, presentation, and customer management skills.

  • Experience with benchmark development, performance management, and risk mitigation.

  • Deep knowledge of ERISA compliance and retirement plan document services preferred.

  • ASPPA or related industry designation preferred

The Team

The Plan Consulting team is part of the Workplace Investing (WI) Pre-Approved and Fiduciary Services organization within Client and Participant Services (CAPS). Supporting all WI markets, the team serves as the primary contact for IRS Pre-Approved Document preparation. They offer technical expertise on plan documents and ERISA compliance to clients and internal partners.

Fidelity’s Onsite Working Model
Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles.
