Your Opportunity

Premier Wealth Service Director

Charles Schwab''s Advisor Services (AS) is the leading provider of custody, trading, technology, and practice management services to independent Registered Investment Advisors (RIAs). We serve thousands of advisory firms that collectively custody trillions of dollars in assets with Schwab. The Premier Wealth Service team is a specialized, high-touch service group within Advisor Services, dedicated to supporting some of our largest and most complex RIA clients with personalized service and strategic partnership.

As the Director, Premier Wealth Service, you will lead a multi-location organization of teams through a team of managers. You''ll be responsible for the leadership, talent development, performance, and culture of this organization, and for delivering an exceptional service experience to our Premier Wealth advisors and their firms. This is a unique opportunity to drive a flagship service offering that helps our top RIA clients thrive by bridging their business complexities with personalized solutions, proactive engagement, and a deep understanding of their needs. As the Premier Wealth Service model continues to evolve, this role will help deepen Schwab''s partnership with advisors through a more strategic consultative approach- guiding firms to think strategically about their service, operational practices, and business effectiveness while delivering an exceptional client experience.

What you'll do:

  • Lead a high-performing service organization: Inspire and direct a large team across multiple locations to deliver best-in-class, high-touch service for Schwab''s largest RIA firms. Set clear vision and goals for your teams, ensuring every advisor relationship receives the personalized attention, proactive support, and exceptional service experience they need to succeed.
  • Deliver on strategic priorities: Execute and continuously refine the Premier Wealth Service strategy-aligning your organization around key priorities such as personalized advisor relationships, partnership with AS Sales, operational scale & optimization, and leading and developing employees. You''ll translate high-level strategy into actionable plans and team objectives, and drive your teams to achieve measurable business outcomes. Drive the evolution of Premier Wealth Service from a traditional service organization toward a highly consultative advisor partnership model, helping advisors identify opportunities to improve operational effectiveness and achieve shared business goals.
  • Cultivate client partnerships & service excellence: Develop and maintain strong relationships with leaders at Premier Wealth RIA firms, becoming their trusted escalation point and strategic partner. Serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders at Premier Wealth firms by facilitating strategic conversations around service models, operational challenges, scalability, and business optimization.
  • Foster sales and enterprise collaboration: Partner closely with Advisor Services Sales and other key internal teams (Operations, Technology, Risk, Product) to provide an integrated, one‑Schwab experience. Influence and help shape service strategy across Advisor Services by sharing best practices, advocating for advisor needs, and partnering with leaders across the enterprise to evolve the client experience.
  • Build and develop talent: Hire, develop, and coach high-performing managers and individual contributors. Foster an inclusive, client-focused culture that emphasizes accountability, continuous learning, and a passion for serving advisors.
  • Lead with presence and communication: Exhibit strong leadership presence and clear communication, serving as a visible representative of Premier Wealth Service within Advisor Services and across the enterprise.
  • Lead through influence and strategic partnership: Establish credibility as a strategic, consultative, leader who can influence advisor decision-making, guide enterprise strategy discussions, and build alignment across multiple stakeholder groups to achieve long-term business objectives.
  • Drive operational excellence & risk management: Oversee operational efficiency, risk controls, and process improvements within Premier Wealth Service. Champion digital tool adoption, process optimization, and data-driven decision-making. Champion structured problem-solving methodologies, continuous improvement disciplines, and process excellence practices that strengthen advisor outcomes, employee effectiveness, and operational scalability.

What you have

Required Qualifications:

  • Leadership experience in financial services, with a track record of success in people leadership roles, preferably leading leaders and multi-team organizations.
  • Deep knowledge of the RIA and wealth management industry, including advisor business operations, service models, and client service delivery. Demonstrated ability to build trusted relationships with sophisticated, high-value clients and engage in guiding discussions that drive business improvement and long-term partnership.
  • Operational and risk acumen: Strong understanding of brokerage operations, custodial platforms, and industry regulations. Experience managing risk, ensuring compliance, and driving process improvements or technology adoption to enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Strategic leadership and influence: Demonstrated success influencing senior stakeholders, leading through ambiguity, and driving outcomes through strategic partnership rather than direct authority. Ability to engage both internal and external audiences with executive presence and credibility.
  • Relationship & communication skills: Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with the executive presence to effectively engage senior-level clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Problem-solving and continuous improvement mindset: Experience applying structured problem-solving, operational excellence, process improvement, Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to improve client outcomes and organizational effectiveness.
  • Talent development: A passion for team development and a history of building high-performing teams.
  • Education & licensing: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required. Active FINRA Series 7, 63, and 9/10 (or 24/4) licenses are required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience within Schwab Advisor Services or working directly with large RIA firms or ultra-high-net-worth client segments.
  • Experience managing teams across multiple geographic locations and leading a manager-of-managers structure.
  • Demonstrated success driving strategic initiatives, process improvements, or change management efforts that enhance client service delivery.
  • Experience providing operational consulting, business process advisory services, practice management guidance, or strategic client guidance within wealth management, custody, brokerage, or financial services environments.
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, with the ability to navigate ambiguity, prioritize effectively, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Advanced degree (MBA or similar) is a plus.
