What youll do on a typical day
The Director, Purchasing is a full time 12 month position responsible for supporting the financial and administrative services division on all matters relating to purchasing including purchasing cards. The Director, Purchasing ensures the division has the support necessary to perform smoothly and efficiently. The Director, Purchasing reports to the Associate Vice President, Financial and Administrative Services.
Essential Job Functions:
Direct and oversee all purchasing, contracting and procurement operations for the College, ensuring compliance with North Carolina General Statutes, NC Department of Administration (DOA) policies and applicable federal regulations.
Maintain procurement policies, procedures and internal controls to ensure efficient, ethical and compliant operations.
Administer and monitor procurement programs and systems, including the Purchasing Card (Pcard) program, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance and effective year-end closeout processes.
Provide leadership and supervision over procurement staff.
Serve as the main point of contact for compliance reviews by the Division of State Purchase and Contract and assist with documentation for the reviews.
Serve as a resource to departments by providing guidance on procurement processes, regulatory requirements and best practices, while delivering training and promoting high-quality customer service.
Prepare, analyze and maintain procurement reports and data, including HUB reporting and performance metrics, ensuring accuracy, transparency and audit readiness.
Serves on College committees.
Performs other duties as assigned as needed to contribute to the success of the Financial and Administrative Services Division and Davidson-Davie Community College.

Your attributes
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field from an accredited institution
Minimum of two years working in purchasing in a North Carolina Community College
Preferred Qualifications:
NC Certified Procurement Professional (NCCCP) or other NC DOA certification
Experience with purchasing card administration
Ability to exhibit initiative, enthusiasm, teamwork and collaboration with faculty, staff and with external constituents in the execution of responsibilities
Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community
Work environment
ADA requirements for this position include critical thinking skills with the ability to process information and exercise good judgment and effective use of all forms of communication including use of computers.
