Responsibilities


According to the ACGME Institutional Requirements, “the purpose of graduate medical education (GME) is to provide an organized educational program with guidance and supervision of the resident, facilitating the resident’s ethical, professional and personal development while ensuring safe and appropriate care for patients.” In partnership with Morehouse School of Medicine, Bakersfield Memorial Hospital's, Residency Program Director will help establish, build and lead our program from the groundup to bring a Neurology Residency program to the Bakersfield community. The position will include leadership, administrative, teaching and patient care responsibilities. In partnership with Morehouse School of Medicine, our focus on GME expansion is to:


•Diversify the physician workforce and address the national physician shortage;


•Concentrate training opportunities on primary care;


•Focus on areas of inequity with regard to the provision of healthcare, including but not limited to racial inequities in healthcare and caring for medically underserved and vulnerable populations; and


•Join the national initiative to train 300 additional underrepresented minority providers annually.


Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications:


+ Specialty expertise and a minimum of three (3) years of documented educational and/or administrative experience.

+ Education Required: MD or DO degree from an accredited school.

+ A current and valid license as physician and surgeon (LIC OSTPHY – Osteopathic Phys-Surgeon) in the state of California.


Preferred Qualifications:


+ Minimum five (5) years of experience in teaching in a residency program preferred. Ideal candidates will have experience as a Core Faculty, Associate Director or Director of a Neurology Residency.
