Position Summary
The Director of SAP Warehouse Operations role serves as the SAP Implementation Lead for all warehouse functions, including 3PL integrations, Material management functions, and as a functional SAP Power User supporting end users on the floor. Ideal candidate has 10+ years of warehouse leadership, prior experience coordinating an SAP WM implementation, and the analytical mindset to translate operational requirements into clean SAP processes, master data, and user training.
Key Responsibilities
SAP Implementation Lead & Warehouse SME
• Serve as the warehouse business lead for SAP WM/EWM, MM, and IM implementations, upgrades, and rollouts — kick-off through hypercare.
• Translate warehouse processes into business requirements, current/future-state process maps, and functional specs; lead site readiness, master data cleansing, legacy data extraction, and cutover planning.
• Coordinate UAT (test scripts, defect triage with IT/consultants) and deliver end-user training, job aids, and train-the-trainer sessions.
• Lead go-live and stabilization on the floor; own continuous improvement and change governance with IT post go-live.
• Functional user / SME — deep on day-to-day warehouse transactions and master data, with escalation of complex configuration or integration issues to the senior SAP team and IT.
• Monitor warehouse master data (storage types/bins, picking strategies, packaging, UoM conversions) within established governance.
• First-line SAP support for end users: troubleshoot errors, validate discrepancies, coach associates, and run standard reports/queries (stock overview, open TOs, outbound deliveries, inventory aging).
• Test SAP enhancements, patches, and break-fixes in QA and sign off for the warehouse function; partner with senior Power Users/IT on advanced configuration and integrations (TMS, carriers, scanners).
Warehouse Operations Leadership
• Assist in managing 3PL partner relationships and 3PL inventory — own SLAs and performance reviews, Quarterly Business Reviews, drive issue resolution, and ensure accuracy and visibility of inventory held across third-party facilities.
• Development and maintenance of Quarterly Business Reviews with all 3PL’s and Logistical partners.
• Joint ownership of inventory control (cycle counts, physical inventories, reconciliations)
• Drive cost-reduction across and negotiate 3PL/carrier rates and SLAs.
• Joint ownership of managing the 3PL operating budget; partner with Finance on forecasting, capex, and variance analysis.
• Installation of new 3PL cost saving initiatives, as well as development of new initiatives directed at cost and service improvements.
Requirements:
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business, Accounting/Finance, or related field.
• 10+ years of progressive warehouse/logistics management, including multi-site responsibility.
• Demonstrated experience coordinating or leading an SAP WM/EWM implementation on the business side.
• Working knowledge of SAP MM, IM, and WM/EWM at a functional power-user level (not technical/development).
• Track record of cost reduction, productivity improvement, and KPI-driven operations; experience with 3PL partners and cold-chain facilities; strong knowledge of OSHA, forklift safety, and food-safety frameworks (SQF/HACCP/GMP).
• Proficiency with MS Excel (pivot tables, lookups), MS Office, and ERP/WMS reporting tools; strong communication and training skills.
Preferred Qualifications
• SAP S/4HANA implementation or migration experience; background in food, beverage, CPG, or medical-device distribution.
• Hands-on experience with secondary ERP/WMS platforms (QAD, Manhattan, Blue Yonder) and integration to SAP.
• Forklift Operator/Trainer; Lean, Six Sigma, or APICS (CSCP/CPIM) certification; prior accounting/finance experience.
