The American Diabetes Association (ADA) seeks an individual for the position of Director of State Government Affairs for the Central United States. This position is responsible for designing and implementing advocacy strategies to advance the ADA's advocacy priorities and mission in assigned states. Among other duties, the position's responsibilities include lobbying state legislatures, managing volunteer and staff working groups, and representing ADA in coalitions and other public facing groups and situations.
This position works under the supervision of the Managing Director of State Government Affairs and works closely with colleagues in ADA's Grassroots Advocacy, Federal Government Affairs, Legal Advocacy, and Communications teams to achieve the ADA's advocacy goals. Candidates for this position must be able to work independently and manage multiple priority projects.
The position will work remotely but the applicant must live in one of states in the region, which includes Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, West Virginia or Wisconsin. Preferably Illinois.
